Let’s just pray he doesn’t hurt his shoulder and avoid that potential discussion altogether.

If the Jets are really chanting "Mike White!" in the locker room this is basically all over.

A team has one starting QB and there's no room for division on that.

Saleh may take his time but if White keeps playing well he's not going to take him off the field. No HC is that stupid.

That was a very different situation. Do I need to explain all the differences?

That's short term thinking. FQBs are RARELY built overnight and Wilson just started his career. He showed amazing QB skills in college and the organization has committed to developing him and his skills in the NFL. That doesn't mean he will necessarily be successful, but it would be severe negligence if the the Jets benched him in order to give White a chance. Let Wilson fully heal, let him learn what he can from the sidelines. Also, showcase Mike White a little bit and build up his value to other teams for a potential trade down the road. Or make him a long-term backup. Or if Wilson doesn't progress, make White the starter. Whatever happens, Wilson has to be given a chance to develop for the rest of this season and next season.

Why would it be severe negligence? If White is giving them chances to win the games, he should play. This is about winning football games and playing the best players. Not desperately trying to make sure your high draft capital investment pays off.

I have severe doubts that Mike White is anything more then a flash in the pan with a couple good games and that’s it. Maybe a good long term backup. But if the offense is moving the rock with him under center, you gotta keep it rolling.

I'm hoping that Mike White is the real thing, but yeah he could just be a Matt Flynn.

We're due. Nothing great has happened to the Jets in a decade+. That's a long time between good breaks.

I agree it would be so awesome if White is the real deal.

That is best case scenario since he would be cheap to build around (for a little while anyway). The dream scenario

Because Zach is way more talented than White and if developed, should give them opportunity to win a lot more games and go further in the playoffs than White can dream about. You don't draft a QB #2 in the draft and then sit him behind a JAG 5th round pick. Playing it safe and going with the short-term fix (which is what going with White appears to be on the surface) will never get a team where it wants to be. They believed in Zach enough to draft him #2, and believed in him enough to not sign or trade for a veteran QB to start, and they need to keep believing in him and developing him. By doing that and starting all these young players, they have as much as said that wins and losses don't matter this year, that this year is about playing and developing those young players while Saleh and LaFleur learn on the job. Sticking with White once Zach is healthy, abandons that plan all for short-term gain (wins) now, rather than building for the future. White will never be anything more than a game manager who can take what the D gives him. That will only get a team so far. Zach has the talent to be a top 5 QB and have the team in the hunt for the Lombardi Trophy every season for the next 10-15 years.

Talent is relative if it’s not unlocked. All this stuff about him having the potential to be a top 5 QB is silly and can be said about plenty of players.

You’re obsessed with making posts like this to the point where I don’t really feel like dissecting it all or debating it.
