Does White have the skills to be a FQB? I don't know and wonder what others think. It seems he has good decision-making ability, which really can't be taught. He has other intangibles as well.
If the magic dies, it dies. In the meantime the Jets will be able to make more educated decisions going forward.
I respectfully disagree. I think JD was looking for a long-term backup this spring between White and Morgan, and that's one of the reasons why he didn't sign a veteran. Backup QBs don't make all that much, so there's no reason why White couldn't be kept unless he wanted the chance to start somewhere so he could make more money. I believe in Zach. He is the more talented of the two, so I want him to win. That has nothing to do with proving myself right. I've been wrong a lot before, as has every other poster on this board, and there's no shame in that, we're fans. Even the pros are frequently wrong. I like White. I hope that he becomes our long-term backup and plays well when he plays, but there should be no serious competition between the two unless Zach just can't adjust and take what the D gives him. I don't see that happening. Zach is flexible, is driven to succeed, and is smart. He saw what happened with White last week, and was excited about it and excited and happy for White. I believe that Zach will be given every opportunity to succeed, and imo that's how it should be. They have a LOT invested in him and he is far more talented than Whntie. They don't have very much invested in White.
The thing about the White vs Wilson choice is that we really don't know which is the better option at this point. If Wilson had the kind of game White had against the Bengals, we would all be prostrate on the ground thanking the gods that we finally found our franchise QB. With White, however, we can only scratch our heads and ask: "is this guy for real?" White isn't going anywhere for a while and neither are the Jets. We need to give Wilson the opportunity to prove he's the better QB than White.
Interesting chart. Herbert & Mahomes are boring and Geno Smith & Mayfield protect the football and make big plays. Definitely the 1st time, maybe the last time, I've seen anyone chart those theories out
So 5% of Whites throws are turnover worthy? And throws more turnover worthy throws than Zach? Doesn't really match the eye test, but interesting nonetheless
he is pretty great. I think he can be had too, would be awesome if we could give them back their 1st next year for him
What do you think Mike White is? I'm not sure I've seen your opinion on him around here. You're usually pretty thorough when discussing QBs.
