12/29/2006 Football ~ The University of Notre Dame football team returned to the practice field in full pads on Friday, Dec. 29, to begin its final push toward the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 3. The team held its first spirited workout in the Super Dome on Friday, while head coach Charlie Weis appeared at his first press conference of the week. Jan 3, 2007 at 8:00pm est. Less than a week to go boys. I'm real excited about this one. It would be really nice to have this era end with a win and breaking our bowl loss streak.
Hate has nothing to do with what I wrote a few minutes ago. That is too strong of a term anyway. I do not like Notre Dame. I don't hate them. There were a number of times this year when I picked Notre Dame to win. Some of those times are documented in the Notre Dame threads. LSU is a much better team than Notre Dame. I am battling a friend in our 6th annual bowls pick 'em contest. We switch up the style every year. This year we picked all 32 bowls (without point spreads) and used confidence points. He picked LSU and allotted 32 points to that pick. In other words, of all the bowls, he is most confident that he will pick that one correctly. How much did I put on my LSU pick? 28 points. Yes, we're quite confident LSU will roll.
Hahah. I know it will with some posters. Anyway, I know ND is the underdog here but I think it would be BS to say they don't have a fighting chance.
Bowl season is the time of year ND's overratedness comes up and bites them in the ass. They get put in bowl games against far superior opponents and end up getting embarassed. Bowl wins since 1993: Rutgers 1 ND 0
Notre Dame beat Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on January 1, 1993. Notre Dame beat Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl on January 1, 1994. After the 1994 season they lost to Colorado in the Fiesta Bowl on 1-2-95. Notre Dame played LSU in the 1997 Independence Bowl. LSU romped 27-9. Rondell Mealey ran for 222 yards and two touchdowns.
I've been looking for a reason of why ND would win, but I can't. God and Jesus is too busy this Christmas season, so the prayers will go unanswered.
I could have sworn that game hasn't been played yet. Why don't we calm down our erections of hatred until the game is officially over.
This game is tough to call for me, because I think that while LSU is much more talented than LSU is, I just can't make myself believe in JeMarcus Russell. I would not be shocked at all to see ND steal this one; after all, while SEC football is usually the finest out there, no teams have the occasional, utter breakdowns conference-wide like the SEC'ers.
