This last Jets caller was horrible. He tried to say New England CANT go into Indianapolis and win? Then when asked when the Colts have beaten the Pats in a big game he tried to change the subject! And he cracked me up when he answered Francesa's question of "When was the last time the Patriots lost a big game?" Caller - "To the Jets." LOL
Their job is to get ratings. Barber vs Coughlin, Shockey vs Coughlin, Shockey vs everyone, etc. are all more compelling storylines. Of course they're going to spend more time on the big stories. But Francesa has been a supporter of the Jets since Mangini/Tannenbaum took over. Going into the season, when many people expected the Jets to win 4-5 games, Francesa was one of the very few in the media to say the Jets had a very good shot at 8-8. He's great friends with Tannenbaum, thinks Mangini is a very good coach. He has been a big supporter of the Jets. This entire "Francesa against the Jets" thing is completely made up. Fact is, anyone who doesn't talk about the Jets non-stop, or doesn't constantly say how great they are, is seen as a Jet-hater. It's incredible, but true.
I agree that Francesa has been supportive of the Jets this year, but in a 5 hour show they can't spend even a half hour on the Jets, they do play in New York. Francesa is ok and yes he did give the Jets a decent shot at .500 this year. But he did keep saying Jets fans shouldn't get too excited after their nice little 4-3 start, him and Chris saying calm down you're still not going anywhere, etc. Well look now.
russo was the one who said the jets would stumble and NOT make the playoffs..... the callers should grill him when he returns later this week. of course he will say the jets kinda backed in as well......with their soft schedule.... jil
You guys miss the point.. These guys TRY to stir up trouble so you CALL. If they just reported the facts noone would call, and youd have 1050 radio..
i don't know what your talking about. My only point when I called was that our receivers are better than their receivers which statistically is a fact. Watson maybe talented but he is hurt and so you can't factor "what if" scenerios into the equation. The second point was that we have a chance to win the game and is not impossible given we are able to stop the run. As for WFANs take on the Jets, they definitely have a Giant agenda because it makes better conversation as the Jets are non controversial and don't give could back page quotes. When you try to make your point, he patronizes you and makes you state the obvious. I called to make one point and that was that we have better receivers than NE which is a fact.
Though we all agree that the Jets receiver core is better...You yourself said he pretty much baited you and you had to basically let your guard down. Your call started well but when he came back you pretty much succumbed to him, doing exactly what he wanted you to do. He didn't try to hook me that bad but he got the vibe from me that I was just expecting a Jets dominance, no way. And thats the impression he got from most other Jets callers today.

After reading this thread I happened to come across the replay on YES. I only watched it for a minute, but the first thing I saw was him berating his new Producer for not having the TV on the right channel and not having his monitor in the right place. Obviously the new guy messed up, but Francessa was just being a bully, embarassing the new guy on-air to "put him in his place". What an A-hole.
Russo's problem is that he was all high on the Jets when nothing was expected of them. Soon as they started to win and Jet fans were calling in feeling good about the team, then he of course had to go the other way and try to rain on the parade. That's his whole schtick.
I think it's funny how anyone who hates Mike only can insult him by calling him a fat ass or some more extreme version of that. You'd never say he doesn't know his stuff, because he does, but you only say that he is fat. And when you say this you sound more idiotic than you presume him to be. Any negativity toward the Jets and someone automatically becomes hated.
