I received a voicemail that my house was built in 1600 and they had to update their records. Holy Shit, this is so infuriating. I should have never returned that phone call, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. I said I'm looking at the hard copy of my policy how do you not know what I'm insured for? Everything that she was questiong me about/telling me was wrong. I said I gotta go. I was so fucking mad that I called back in 15 minutes and said I don't mean to be rude but what the hell is this? "I'm just doing my job. If your house burns to the ground, we just want to make sure that you're fully covered." "Listen, you're looking at my policy also. I have a hard copy of my policy in my hand what is this?!" "We're updating our system. That's it." So she made some "corrections". I was this short of freaking out. I can't even explain it. Conclusion: DATA BREACH. I insisted on a a new hard copy and she got pissy. "I'll request it." Fck this company. EDIT & P.S.: This is going to turn into the airport story.
Insurance companies do everything possible to not pay for home damage, and if they can't wiggle out of it, they drop you after paying out.
Are you sure that was Nationwide on the other end of the line? My auto warranties, insurance, non-existent past-due parking violations, etc. they're all prompting calls from people with strange accents all the time.
It's 100% my agent's office. I tried to move several times for a variety of reasons but it's too cumbersome to explain why I didn't. They're all crooks.
Maybe I'm missing something? What are you so mad about? They called to update the information they have on file for your policy and you flipped out on them, no? It's not a data breach.
