A lot of thoughts have been going through my head the last 48 hours about this game/season.

    Sunnyside

Do you feel it Jet fans? Do you feel the actual twinge of excitement for a game...in November! Maybe were not league leaders but we have something to look forward to Thursday. Are we actually turning it around? And if we win, who knows?

Was I the only one rooting for the Giants last night?

If we beat the Colts we own a half game lead on them and the tiebreaker. Who would have expected us to be ahead of the Colts for the WC in November? (We also could have passed the Chiefs if the Giants played a little better - were that close to relevant). And even the Chiefs really don't look that great all of a sudden. Titans lost Henrey and we already own the tiebreaker over them. In reality, there isn't 7 clear playoff teams in the AFC right now.

The truth is we do have playoff life - if we win on Thursday. If we win we have 9 games left, including 2 games against the dolphins, the Jaguars, the Texans, the rudderless Eagles, and the QB-less Saints in NJ, where they always struggle. I believe its the easiest remaining schedule ATM. The only hard games are two against Buffalo and one against TB.

I know were aren't a SB team but we have a great chance to sneak into the wildcard, if we are turning things around, especially with the extra WC slot. A LOT can happen over a half season. Fortunes change and we are in a good position to be one of the teams where it changes for the better. There will be meaningful games in the future, if we can win Thursday.

    Darkside
We always do this to ourselves. How many times have we had a surprising win right before a nationally televised game, only to be humiliated in front of everyone? Ghosts of the ghost game lurk right around the corner. We need to at least step up and be competitive on Thursday to show we have made some progress. Not trail by multiple scores the whole game. That's the best our mediocre team can hope for.

Playoffs - hah, are you kidding? Who cares who we play. We lose to the crummy teams and beat the teams that should blow us out. We make no sense and more importantly, both the TItans and the Bengals were massive trap wins that deluded us into thinking we're better than we are. Were not going to trap anyone else. We are what we are - a mediocre team who traps actual talented teams by lolling them into thinking were a cakewalk. Were crap on the road and have been outscored 126 to 47 in away games. Expect more pain on Thursday. Prove me wrong Jets.

    In the End

No matter how you feel its just great that we have this game to look forward to...in November. It might not be a lot, but compared to what we've had its something. A glimmer of hope, and I'd rather have it than not. If we win our possibilities do open up considerably.

    GO Jets!

I got this weird feeling the Jets were going to upset the Bengals. I do think they took the Jets lightly and were looking past us to the Browns. Once they realized they were in a game against a team with not even pride left to lose, they knew they were in trouble because a team in that position will come at you and be all in. That makes the Jets a very dangerous opponent for the Colts Thursday night. We always play well against them even in Indy. Win or lose, I think the Jets hit rock bottom against the Patriots and are now playing as if they have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Their self respect as NFL players was almost gone and the Team was a punchline. Now the Jets need to start doing the punching.

I think the Colts realize they're gonna be in a game Thursday night.

If White is really as good as he played in Cincy, then your scenario has a chance of playing out (though we're probably in too deep a hole to grab a wild card). But if that happens, White will be our guy, and Wilson will be on his way out of NY because aside from the one game against the Titans, he's been trash, and we can't go back to him just because we hope he might one day reach the level that a 26 year old White is already playing at.

But much more likely is Indy takes away the short routes, White comes back down to earth, Wilson starts again once he's healthy, and we're back to the fire everyone threads in a couple weeks. It's also worth noting that both our wins were very close, and we could easily be 0-7 right now, in which case this thread wouldn't exist.

It's pivotal for Mike White, but that's personal for his own career. The Jets have a 2% chance of the playoffs right now according to the metrics... so no, I dont agree with the OP

2% is pretty much the odds that White is the second coming of Brady or Warner.

I'd say less than that. Brady & Warner are hall of famers, every QB has less than 2% chance of ending up like them

You have to factor in the karma parameter that the football gods owe us one.

It depends on if we are turning a corner as a team. If we are, and we win, we have 6 comparably easy games out of the last 9. Like I said, a lot can happen in half a season, and if we end up playing good football then good things could happen for us.

That's the sunnysider in me. Am I confident about it - not really. But at least its on the table.

Just don't lay an egg after a really nice win.

Come out, move the sticks on offense, put some points on the board, and play competitive football. All I'm asking for from this team at this point.

Nothing has changed for the season since the start. Talking playoffs is silly. After every win this team is going to the playoffs after every loss we will never win another game. We all just need to relax after each game.

We did the same thing after the Tennessee win then we blow chow against the Falcons. The Colts are a very good team and we will need to play a great game to beat them while winning the turnover battle. No I am not expecting playoffs I am rooting for the Jets to play well against the Colts. If they do not "Fire Everybody". Just kidding, if they don't on to the Bills.

Too bad you didn’t place $10 to pick Jets to win Super Bowl after the embarrassing lost to the Pats. You would win $200K if the Jets miraculously win the SB. Now the Jets dropped to $175K after the Bengals game. I would imagine it would drop down even further if the Jets somehow win the Colts game and risking $10 wouldn’t be really Dumb…

I’ve been having the same fantasy … If we can find a way to step up and beat IDY and get to 3-5, the parade of tomato cans following the Buffalo game have the potential to make TG - Xmas a fun stretch. All I want is a reason to care about some Nov/Dec games for a change. A win on Thursday does that, even if Buffalo smashes us on 11/14. Keep in mind, we’ll only have 3 road games after the Colts … @ Houston and @ Miami are two of them. So get in Wentz’s face and get this damn W on Thursday!!

Nicely done. And let us not forget the big pending controversy by the media if we win. They are already making reference to the Brady/Bledsoe comparison lol.

What's the over/under on White interceptions? I put it at 2 and I'll take the over.

We all remember the Falcons game - Thursday is almost an identical match-up except it’s in the United States. Last time the Jets came out completely flat and until they reverse that habit Jets fans are always going to expect the worst.

However in theory yes the Jets do have several winnable games coming up - on paper.

    They have to execute ……

Yeah... he's gonna have to toss it further than 10 yards in this game... which may lead to some "oh shit" moments.

Take a good look at the AFC. The most likely scenario is

    East....Bills
    North...Ravens-Bengals winner
South...Titans - losing Henry is a big loss but they should still win that division
West....Chargers-Raiders winner with the Chiefs possibly joining the party

Wild cards....Ravens-Bengals loser, Chargers-Raiders loser, also in the mix KC, NE, CLE, PITT and maybe DEN and INDY although I think the Broncos are a paper tiger. Indy has talent but if they lose Thursday then they are done as well.

I hope the Jets continue to improve and get better. It doesn't matter if its with White or Wilson but the playoff talk will have to wait until 2022 the earliest. That's assuming JD has a strong offseason with the draft and FA.
