    When you consider:
    1. Their individual talents
    2. Their respective ages
    3. The current makeup of this team
At this particular moment (Please note the date and time of this post) both Zach Wilson and Mike White deserve equal consideration for the starting quarterback role of the New York Jets.

    Agree or Disagree?

The job should belong to white until he loses it after yesterday’s performance. It is certainly possible he crashes back to earth on Thursday and then the job could be back up for grabs. We will see if it was a fluke performance or if there is something real about mike.

I am a big Zach fan, but if mike plays well, I have no issue with sitting Zach and letting them fight it out in next years camp.

I think fans are mesmerized by what White did yesterday. I feel we should pump the brakes a bit here. Zach is the future but White maybe more then what others have thought. Mind you, I’ve heard numerous beat writers say White wasn’t that great in camp and that a veteran should have BEEN brought in. So maybe the change here is White has gotten comfortable with the system. It has been stated that it takes time to really get to know the system and this past week was a lot of factors to consider, but everyone was on the same page for the most part. Overall a good job by all parties.

Zach deserves full consideration to play on the bench.

Mike White has earned the starting job until he screws it up.

    No.

If Mike White shows he Is capable of being an impact player, shows consistency moving forward, there should be no question about who the starter Is.

It's just like Saleh said during the post-game interview.. It's an opportunity and It's essentially on Mike White at this point moving forward. It has nothing to do with, Wilson.
If he messes up, shows that he should be just a back-up. Wilson will be the default starter again. No way Wilson should be forced into the role If Mike White continues to show his merit at the position.

NY Post saying White needs another 400+ yard performance to keep the job.

Imagine that, you do something that this franchise hasnt done in 21 years and the local paper says 'do it again in 4 days or its back to the bench'

Whether White throws for 400 yards or 150 yards in his next game or two, shouldn't matter. If the Jets want Wilson to be a successful pro, they should stick him on the bench where he should've been all along.

The game was a bit too fast for him to start the year and the rest of the team is still (despite a good showing yesterday) underdeveloped in terms of being able to support a young quarterback while also getting acclimated to a new team, coaching staff, system, etc.

There's nothing wrong with a young quarterback learning from the bench. The Jets are going to wreck him if they throw him in there again off the injury and performs worse than White did.

For what it's worth, the Colts game on Thursday night is scary for a player like White who feasted underneath. The Colts have very good fast linebackers underneath. Their weakness is over the top.

That’s the unfair thing about this league and how it ties itself to draft stock. Someone like White isn’t gonna have the rope that a high pick is allowed. High pick gets viewed through the you gotta give them time and room for error lens that White isn’t gonna be afforded. He has a bad performance and people will want him put out to pasture.

Bingo. Absolutely loved yesterday but beyond just the “it’s just one game” theory that you can lean on as to why White might regress, the opponent plays a much bigger role here. Darius Leonard closes on a 4 yard pass a whole lot quicker than anyone else on the field yesterday.

That is on the coaches to put together a good game plan. If we have to count on our QB putting up 400yds to win we are in trouble. This was a nice win and a great performance for White, ML and the offense but it is not sustainable.

I just hope we do not go back to fire everyone if the Jets lose on Thursday. The best thing we have going for us Thursday is Wentz. He will throw up two three balls that the Jets can get, we need to take advantage.

Even if he throws for 69 yards and the Jets win he will be 2-0. You can't bring back Wilson in that scenario

I agree with you, and that completely unfair. That is why I, as I stated above, he has earned the same consideration for the starting QB job as Wilson.

The job is (and should be) White's at the moment, but to keep it, he will have to show that he can throw it over the defense. I don't think he can. I hope he proves me wrong.

I didn't scout Mike White coming out of college but the paid analysts did and the interesting thing is that none of them questioned his ability to throw deep which is interesting that multiple posters are suggesting that's a potential weakness. His weakness is/was accuracy & anticipation in the short passing game (sure didn't look weak yesterday).

It’s just one game, and it was a fluke game. Watching the replay, he could’ve easily thrown 2-3 more interceptions. I think it was just a case of not having enough game tape for the Bengals to scout him along with overlooking the Jets. Classic trap game for them.

Now if he does this again next week, then I’ll start taking him a bit more seriously.

I'm thinking that as well. It seemed like he didn't have much touch on the ball yesterday. Everything was a bullet. I don't know if he can make the throw Wilson did in OT against the Titans.

Thursday will be a good test. I think White should start as long as he's playing well and the Jets are winning. I'd give him a minimum of 3 more games. No need to rush Wilson back. Let him heal and watch from the sidelines.

    Hmmm good question.

I think you send MW back to the bench when ZW is ready (Bills Game?). There's something to be had for retiring MW bk to the bench BEFORE he flames out, while he's still a hot arm.

Fan base would continue the season thinking we have a real option behind ZW, which gives a fan base 'hope', which sells tickets and fills stadiums. If/When Z struggles, you can already hear "WE WANT MIKE....WE WANT MIKE!!!!" raining down on the sidelines.

ZW will feel the heat of MW breathing down his back....a true (first?) sense of competition for the QB spot. This alone will force ZW to play with more urgency.

I think the Jets offensive game plan took them by total surprise. I bet they were figuring on a heavy dose of the run, especially with our backup QB in. It's on them though for not adjusting at the half.

The 400+ yards is spectacular, but he did throw almost all of them underneath taking what the defense was giving him. He completed all the balls that Zach was missing, and that was the difference. Brady does this every game - takes what is there and consistently moves the ball.

Every game Zach misses a bunch of easy throws that White completed and moved the chains with. Zach can make all of those throws plus the WOW throws deep and off schedule stuff and that is what makes him a great prospect. BUT the problem is he is either not taking what is there, pr just blatantly missing easy passes.

Is it because Wilson is not ready? Or maybe White is 3 or 4 inches taller and can see the field better? Did they simplify the playbook for that game? Or a combination of those...
