Kid is a baller! Ja'Marr Chase held to 3 catches for 32 yards today Getting better and better every week! Was a little concerned when Saleh said he loved our cornerback group. Now I can see why!
Hall would’ve been a day 2 pick if he didn’t have an injury at the end of his college career. Dude is a stud.
This CS has done a great job with the CB group as a whole. Hall is becoming a #1 CB this year. No need for Stingley.
Hey man, can never have too many good CBs lol, I wouldn't mind Stingley still, plus it would take the pressure off him of having to be thrusted into the #1 spot. Could be a great backfield with Hall, Carter II, and Stingley!
Hall plays LCB and will not move over to cover a WR. In today’s game Chase mostly lined up against RCB Echols but there were a few occasions he lined up vs. Hall. Hall did give up the long pass along the sideline that should have been called a drop but other than that he looked to have another dominant game.
Yeh, another under the radar unmentioned bad selection by JD, oh wait, my bad. He is one of many young jewels he brought in for us. We have a way to go, but the team is on the right track.
He did give up that long pass that hit the ground but the WR did make a nice ‘catch’ -Hall had him covered and did all he could to prevent the completion without drawing a flag….
2 starters from 2020 draft with Becton and Hall, maybe 3 depending on Mims development. AVT, Michael Carter, and Michael Carter II have been really solid for us this year. It seems like Moore is starting to catch on as well. Plus a potential FQB. I think some fans have extremely unrealistic expectations from the draft every year. Getting 2 solid starters is a good draft, 3 or more is a fantastic draft.
It's not unmentioned. It's been heavily noted that it appears as though he's been the only strong hit from the 2020 draft. Hall's been great.
I believe Becton is a solid if not a strong hit and Mims tbd. I don’t devalue Becton because of his injury.
Hall is a stud. Carter seems to be around making big plays a lot, moreso then Echols who’s been solid on the other side. Zuniga had a sack/ forced fumble. Depending on the Huff injury, here’s a chance for Zuniga to shine. Solid debut though.
Oh don't worry, I already just saw an article posted this morning saying JDs picks are coming into focus more and more and proving their value. Last week it was about JD being the reason we are losing. This week it's about JDs picks showing promise. In two drafts JD has added Bryce Hall, Mekhi Becton, both Michael Carters, Zach Wilson, AVT, Elijah Moore, Brandin Echols, and possibly Mims. He has also added Rankins, Davis, Cole, Coleman, Curry, Quincy Williams, and of course Franklin Myers. I'd say that's a hell of a haul so far with a shit ton of draft picks and money in the offseason to come.
Hall has been great. It feels like taking a first round talent who slipped because of injuries is something that only pans out for every team other than the Jets. Finally one went our way. Ashtyn Davis on the other hand…. My god was he horrendous yesterday. Hes just not an NFL caliber player right now and it’s hard to see a path in which he is. He has no clue what he’s doing other than running.
The Bengals got to the line and ran the next play really quickly and the initial replays the broadcast showed were very inconclusive. Then there was one that clearly showed it hit the ground but it was after the next play had been run. Edit: Speaking of challenges, in the one Saleh won for the TD, he went back on to the field to talk with the ref after initially challenging. Any idea what he was doing? Asking to challenge both the fact that Ty went out of bounds at all and the spot if he did? Is that possible in a single challenge, so he gives himself a double chance of winning?
This is my take on the CBs. They still give up a lot of passing yards, and long plays however there are bright spots where they closely playing the receivers. Yesterday there were some closely covered plays but a couple of great throws by Burrow and s real great catches Higgins. Can’t blame them on CBs. I like the way the CBS are playing how ever, safeties is a huge issue IMO. Davis, sheesh enough said as few already mentioned. Mayne is IMO I am not seeing playing well in his last 3 games. He is not paired well with Davis? I’d trade him but who fills his spot?
Thanks MoWilk for the response. I have to say I'm not to impressed with the announcers nor the camera coverage. They talk to much and want to criticize every call. With the Sunday night crew the cameraman miss nothing. Good question on Ty, I think (my guess)he wanted to clarify his challenge, that he was in bounds and as such a TD. I have to say this team showed me some real resilience in yesterdays game. The didn't collapse like a house of cards after the three turn overs.
Excellent response. Oh how quickly we forget the pain of blowing 12 draft picks in one year, the total negligence year after year to anything called offense in the early rounds, and complete misuse of our resources and draft picks. Sure JD had some misses and some free agents than didn't pan out, but who the hell doesn't. He does not ruin the cap structure with a one year worthless splash impacting the long future like our predecessors did. I still believe there is a bigger and more valuable roll for Mims. He is starting to get exposure, provides good blocking and his yards after the catch are pretty solid. the holding call yesterday cost him another big chunk of yardage. He just needs reps and more reps at this point.
