i told some folks that Carter reminds me of Ekeler and I hoped they would use him as a receiver out of the backfield. He’s so elusive and he’s hard to get a hold of. Continue this and it opens up downfield as teams try to stop the underneath. I think this was a very well called game with White knowing where to go with the ball.
Less deep concepts and the biggest difference — Mike White was decisive. I said it a couple weeks ago but Zach is in his own head at the moment. Hopefully the time off will help him.
I'm like 90% sure this was a fluke, but imagine if it wasn't. The great irony being the Pats knocked out Wilson and it was the Jets who knocked out Bledsoe all those years ago...
This Is a stupid take. I, as have others that didn't necessarily prefer Wilson In the draft, have give him credit when he as deserved It. Unfortunately. That hasn't been often. He hasn't played well overall. Rookie or not. This Is not a Wilson thread. This Isn't a thread to hate on Wilson either. This Is a thread based on a hopeful desire that we all have... To have a competent FQB at the helm, for once. Could It be???? I don't give a shit If It's Wilson or White. I just NEED It to be true before I fucking die preferably. It's just as easy for me to say.. "This comment Is what I would expect from a Wilson fanboy.." It's unnecessary though. This Is a feel good moment and game.. Open up your eyes. Enjoy It. Be hopeful.
I don’t think white threw a completion downfield at all. The one time he did it missed badly. Will be interesting to see what happens when the D covers the short routes and dares him to throw it over the top. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Honestly, when was the last time you saw a Jets' offense continually move the ball downfield? That was a seriously impressive game. Trap game or not, that was an ENTIRELY different offense under White. This is a win-win in my opinion. Having a real competent backup behind Wilson will hopefully ignite his competitive flame.
Where can I get my Mike White jersey? Seriously, though, real happy for the kid. Hope he can keep it going on Thursday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
When we knocked out Bledsoe, the Pats had possibly the best coaching staff, Oline, defense and specials in the league. we have Chris Johnson.
He looks likes he has a solid/ good enough arm with some zip on it…Not sure about downfield accuracy but I guess we will find out eventually
That's the thing though, which Is the impressive part. The Bengals were literally making White beat them. He had to take what was being given to him, or, he would have struggled. He passed the test, he didn't have to go deep because It was being taken away. We haven't seen that poise and execution In a very long time out of a QB for the NYJ. Which Is the only reason I'm truly hopeful. It's not even the 400yd passing, that helps, but, consistency Is what makes and breaks QB's In this league. Thursday will be the next test.
One thing to keep in mind: Jets QB's tend to overperform in their first start and then regress afterwards. It'll be really interesting to see if Mike White can have a decent second start. That will tell us a lot about how hopeful we should be. And yes, he did play fairly well in relief of ZW last week.
He looked decent last week. I understand the caution, but this just feels right. He could be our guy. It’s alright to say it. At the very least, we have a decent backup. My gut is telling me we should ride it out with him for the rest of the season. Wilson’s just not ready.
Lets see how he does, but he has almost a Joe Flacco type to him in the pocket. Need to see more, but happy for him and us today
