Chara needs to retire. He cost the Isles again with his continued poor play. It's like watching Peyton Manning in last year. Isles should have won today instead they only get a point with a 3-2 Shootout loss.
They should just hire him as a coach, leave it to Lou to think Chara is going to make a difference. I also expected a lot more confidence and growth from Noah Dobson, after being in playoffs last year. He gets pushed around a lot and for a big man. He needs to start laying people out with hits and make them think about who their going up against. This team doesn’t have the talent to keep up with big boys as the season goes on. There will be no Covid shortened season to bail them out.
Some good news tonight. While the Jets are getting destroyed the Isles won tonight 6-2. 4-2-2 on this 13 game road trip. Not bad at all really.
I forgot all about the Jets game; glad I was watching the Isles instead. Sorokin is incredible. He’s just so calm in the net. And Wahlstrom’s wrister is a thing of beauty.
Not just 4-2-2, but 4-0-2 in the last six. The season started badly, but they seem to be building to something now. The key will be to take advantage of all of those home games that are going to start in a couple of weeks.
The season started badly because we played two high powered offenses who are likely to be competing for the Presidents Trophy. They are built to score 5 goals on the Isles, especially at the start of the season where the Isles historically start slow. Since then Sorokin has been a beast.
Something I took for granted was the Isles depth. If all the lines are clicking this can be a tough team, would love to get 20 goals from Walstrohm and not have the pressure of being a first line winger. I would still love to have a true PF next to Barzal, it would make his job so much easier. I like the way they rebounded after the slow start.
Its going to be a battle to get into the playoffs this year as the Metro is very tough. Look at Carolina for example 9-0-0 18 points. If the Isles get in they should do some serious damage and could possibly win the Cup. They are built for the playoffs but its the grind of the 82 game regular season that is worrisome when you try to win 2-1 or 3-2 type of games every night.
The Flyers and Sabres are going to fall off, and I don’t see the Pens or Devils being better than the Isles. We should make the top 4.
Brocktober might be over, but Brovember continues. Another goal for Nelson, and another win for the good guys.
Lee with his second, on a great rush up the ice by Barzal. Lee enjoying his homecoming and celebrating his father's birthday.
That went bad quickly. Or perhaps it was just a slow drip torture that wasn’t recognizable for most of the game.
Yikes.... can't win playing ugly every night. Golyshev has 5 goals in 8 games for Bridgeport. He can't do worse than Parise or Palmieri.
Tough loss but can't really kill them here. First regulation loss in 8 games. They have picked up points in 7 of 10 games on this monster road trip including 5 wins. Regroup and get a win Thursday night at NJ. At least that one is somewhat of a home game. Expect a decent amount of Isles fans in attendance. Get to see the team play in person for the first time this year.
