A case could be made that the current roster is "significantly more talented" on paper; unfortunately, the game is not played on paper - results count.
True but by the metrics we can look at now like PPG, YPG etc our offense and defense are just as bad as last year if not worse. And we have a better roster this year by far. I'm not saying fire Saleh now. I'm saying if we continue at this pace all season it should be on the table at the end of the season.
To get those numbers either the scheme sucks (it does) or the players are so terrible that it's an indictment of Joe Douglas.
27th in overall defense, 25th in run defense, 20th in sacks for (7 in one game against two backup offensive lineman). But hey, at least our win-rate at defensive tackle is pretty good according to ESPN. Again, this is why these stats are a farce. We're getting blown off the ball a lot of the time. If we had two of the top 5-6 defensive tackles in the league, winning at a high clip, this wouldn't be the case.
The coaching is terrible. They Jets kept blitzing the Patriots on 3rd and long while knowing the fact that the Pats kept calling screens and short passes. AND the Pats did the same thing in their 1st meeting. The blitzes don't work against those plays. Morons! Studying to be idiots! And failing the entrance exams.. The offensive coaching is also...offensive.
We get schooled on the simplest things by the other opponents CSs. Shows our CS in above heads. I understand personnel may be issue, but for me, the CS has been my biggest issue with this team so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saleh is a former DC and his boss. They both get blame. No reason this run defense should be this bad.
We're on our way to having two out of three games giving up over 50-points. Can't say that I blame anyone for calling for his firing at this point.
I just can't believe how many blown assignments and coverages we have. That's coaching. Not adjusting to getting absolutely gashed in the run game while trotting Nathan Shepherd out there and Zuniga is also a joke.
I'm being totally serious when I say this, but I've seriously seen the coverage issues with the backs out of the backfield fixed quicker in a high school JV game.
Go for the head. Fire Saleh. I have seen this movie with Bowles. Fire Saleh and hire a vet HC. Enough with these hot Coordinators.
Even as a Darksider, I wanted to be optimistic and have high hopes for Saleh, but he just seems in way over his head.
It's always a gamble. Sometimes you get lucky with a hot new mind and end up with a Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay, or Kliff Kingsbury. Other times, you end up with Bowles or Saleh. Also, sometimes you get lucky with a former HC like Bill Parcells, Pete Carroll, or Bill Belichick. Other times, you get flops like George Seifert with the Panthers or Mike Ditka with the Saints. If we did hire a vet HC, the question is who?
