MF has done good. IDK where all this comes from that it's on him and not the players. I didn't go over last games film but someone else did here https://www.reddit.com/r/nyjets/comments/qhpqt1/oc_a_breakdown_of_zach_wilsons_snaps_vs_the/

TLDR GVR sucks and almost single handed kills the offense but overall the plays are there but the players aren't executing.

yeah. the issues hasn't been the play calls at all. in general fans tend to blame them because it's easy/lazy and they are easier to replace then building a talented team or coaching up the players. The truth is we have a young developing under-talented team that is still a few years away and they are just getting beat physically and mentally

I disagree my friend. His priority is to provide a game plan to protect Zach and make game easier for him. He isn't doing that. Like I said, I will defer you to Falco on this.

he is. the players are just whiffing. I've heard the same thing about

    gase/loggains
    bates
    morton
    gailey
    morninweg
    sparano

and the list goes on. most of those guys only got 1-2 seasons. changing them was supposed to fix the offense. It never did. I've watched enough of the film to see we had a ton of opportunities for big plays with great play calls only for a player to screw it up. mostly GVR but others jump in to screw it up when he doesn't. You can blame the coaches for not having their players ready i guess but at the end of the day they are put in positions to make plays and just aren't. we could fire MF but nobody would do better with the current roster. hell the chiefs put up 3 points against tenn. the same team we beat and scored 27 against. and they have mahomes, kelce, hill, etc. way better players then us. You think andy ried forgot how to call plays all of a sudden?

All of those guys ran offenses that scored more points than the 208 we're projected to score over a 16 game season.

Yes, we could. And I just showed that all of then are MUCH worse than AVT so far, and are even below GVR, according to PFF. Jenkins, who was rumored to us if Moore didn't fall (which he wouldn't if we drafted him #1 as Saleh and JD said they would) is out for the whole year with carrier threatening back injury. JD correctly read the G market and came away the best G instead of someone like Jenkins in the second and Mayfield in the 3d, who is literally rated the worst guard in the league (74th out of 74) in PFF.

We dodged a bullet here because of JD, evidence is there with real players selected in the rounds in question. Yet people are still insisting on a generic statement that we could have had 2 instead of 1. These two very likely would be Jenkins and Mayfield. Even if you say Dickerson and Mayfield, we are still WAY ahead with AVT and GVR at these spots.

How can anyone who has watched this team this season say that Joe Douglas is doing a good job?

That's just crazy talk. We've gotten progressively worse since he took over.
And now Joe Flacco is back to save the day?

What a sad pitiful organisation we root for...

I wasn't here in 2014, were people still praising Idzik at that point for trading Revis and clearing out cap space?

Not sure what that has to do with Joe Douglas.

I'm pointing out that several of the pro-Douglas arguments could have been used to defend Idzik if you just change the names of the players involved.

I have to disagree with you entirely about Lafleur.

What we are witnessing on the field is not a lack of talent or poor execution, it is a complete scheme problem and there are tons of examples to prove it.

You may disagree with what players JD has signed, but the guys he brought here are not rookie guys who have never played in this league before. They are starters, if not quality backups, that have shown a lot of promise in their days before coming to New York. Now I am supposed to believe they have lost their abilities, entirely, and can not play the game they have played their enitre lives? I don't buy it.

Corey Davis never had a problem dropping passes. Now he does? Morgan Moses was an awesome lineman in his days prior to the Jets. Now he struggles? Elijah Moore was being talked about, by everyone, endlessly regarding his skillset this offseason, now he is invisible? The offense goes out in preseason and runs flawlessly against second string defenses, now they can't score a point in the first half against starters?

This is a scheme problem and guys are struggling trying to run it.

We had two weeks to prepare for New England. We came out in the first possession and went run, run, pass. Three and out. On the pass, the rusher goes completely unblocked off the edge because there was no one there to block him. That's not a talent issue, that's a problem with the playcall. We were down 14 points and Zach Wilson hadn't thrown a single pass.

I can go through the film all day pointing out the absolute idiocracy of what we are witnessing on offense. Again, these are not guys that are not talented to play in the NFL, these are players that are completely lost and do not understand their assignments.

One of the plays that still drives me absolutely fuckin nuts was an outside screen pass we ran to the receiver. A quick turn around to Crowder and the other receiver leads the way with a block. Good call and could potentially lead to a big play. Only problem? The play was designed so that the WORST blocking receiver on this roster was the one responsible for the block. Elijah Moore is literally the worst blocking wide receiver on this team. What happens? The play gets completely blown up and Crowder gets anihalated.

This team has a lot of talent. I refuse to believe that guys are just not performing. This a deep problem with the offensive system. Lafleur is not only calling shitty plays and confusing the roster, but he is not calling plays and designing plays to the players strengths.

Why is our tight end lined up outside? Why is he lined up as a wide receiver? Why isn't he lined up at the line inside ripping the defense apart up the middle? Why are we running Elijah Moore on the outside? He played amazing in college as a slot receiver. Why is he not in the slot on every fuckin play? Why isn't Moore and Crowder in the slot? Why aren't they alternating in the slot? Why is Denzel Mims still not playing? Why hasn't Lafleur designed plays for Mims?

What we are witnessing is a complete failure of coaching on the offensive side of the ball. While I do not think firing Saleh should even be considered right now, it is infuriating if he does not do somehting about Lafleur.

And btw, this idea that Lafleur knows what he is doing, is fuckin insane. The results so far line up perfectly with his previous tenure in San Fran with Shanahan, and I blame myself for not realizing this when he was hired. Outside of 2019, the 49ers offense ranked as follows:

    2017 - 20th in points
    2018 - 21st in points
    2019 - 2nd in points
    2020 - 21st in points

This is what his offense does. It sucks. Lafleur sucks

Moving the chains is not just about the OL.

How about Hunter Henry at tight end?

Or the other guy that went to the Patriots?

How about a running back that can do more than three yards and a cloud of dust?

This. There's tons of blame to go around, from players to CS to FO to owners. Everyone's making mistakes. There's still a talent deficiency, particularly at certain key positions. No one is exempt from criticism but no one is solely responsible either. While you can turn a franchise round quickly, I don't think you can with the route the Jets have taken. It's a high risk, high reward gamble with a long turnaround and I expect quite a few more one step forward, two steps back moments along the way. However, the worst thing the Jets could do now is to bale on the project and go for a series of quick fixes to try and gain respectability. That unfortunately means some pain along the way.

Soooo, we're looking at 2027 and beyond for a turnaround? Well, after 50 years what's another decade or two. Bring it on but I only ask last guy out turn off the lights. #RealFans who aren't in senior citizens homes will rejoice.

The Jets make the SuperBowl in 2030! Book it!!

Smith, they went to the pats that there is the entire point I was making all along, they joined a franchise and HC renowned for winning, not going so well for them but they were not coming to the Jets, though I would have taken either one of them but wanted Smith tbh.
No body will argue with you about the positions of need James but who is signing with the Jets right now that fits the bill of good>top player>game chamger and wants to join this franchise.

Smith and Henry the two you names both choose to compete with each other at the pats rather than be a number 1 here.

If indeed we even tried for them?

Its like the GM never discussed which system the new staff planned to run. I would think that's absurd but it makes you wonder because the system they are running is designed for a different roster

JD has a reputation for being frugal.

Players going elsewhere is as much about money as our team sucking.
