Yes, I know that he's getting open, but he has dropped passes, and not done a whole lot with the passes he has caught.
I would bet any amount of money that the first pick is used on an edge rusher. I doubt we get the first pick for Thibodeaux so we better start familiarizing ourselves with Hutchinson or whoever else might be the 2nd edge in what looks to be a strong class of edge rushers. With 2nd 1st rounder we can address offense with OL or WR.
According to this https://scores.nbcsports.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&type=Receiving&rank=232&year= he hasn't even dropped 2 on the year http://hosted.stats.com/fb/tmleaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232 this says we are middle of the pack as a team. Not sure what they consider a drop as I'm pretty sure davis has dropped more then 2, but I don't think he's dropped much. I can only remember 1 pass moore dropped
Moore is open all the time on the outside. The key to him being an effective player is the threat of his deep speed, because he is a smaller guy who can get pressed on short routes. If he is pressed, timing is off. However, if he beats press, he can burn you consistently for deep plays and TD’s. This will force DB’s to respect him at the LOS. The reason we aren’t seeing that result in completions is because the OL is getting beaten, and Wilson is still adjusting to setting protections at the LOS. Between mistakes vs the blitz and just getting outright beaten by DLinemen, most of Wilson’s passes have to be shorter developing. This is exactly why I want the Jets to make a real investment at RG and RT, and keep McGovern for another year of chemistry. Welker and Edelman could not play outside, they did not have the physical ability. They did not have the explosiveness nor stature to match up outside, and you need at least one. Were they wasted inside? No, it’s all they could do. Would Randy Moss have been wasted in the slot? For sure. Would Antonio Brown have been? Yes. Reggie Wayne? Yep. Tyreek Hill? Fo sho. Stefon Diggs? Yessir. Most slot WR’s cannot take the physical abuse that comes with catching 100 passes in that part of the field. Edelman and Welker were sturdier than most and even so played through a ton of injuries later in their careers. It’s extremely punishing to be the primary target in the slot, just look at Michael Thomas. Basically missed 2 years angler being smashed around in the slot. As far as sweeps, there’s no reason Moore can’t run sweeps from the outside.
Did you happen to miss my reply here about our formations? Haven't seen you comment on it yet? https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/max’s-mock-off-season-1-0.96421/page-2#post-4137250 As far as slot usage vs outside. AB isn't a great example to use. Pitt used him in the slot all the time in 3WR formations although I couldn't find the data on it. Even now with Tampa Bay he's their best receiver on a stacked team and he plays half his snaps from the slot (47.6%) moore being versatile isn't a waste. it allows us to move him around more which is great. he can play outside in 12 formation then in 11 slide into the slot if we play cole/mims outside or stay outside if we play crowder. it's good to have someone who can play both. You name tyreke hill, but hill also plays a lot of slot. half his production last year came from the slot and he was named the top slot WR in the NFL in 2020 https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/202...t-touchdown-wire-2021-slot-receiver-rankings/ realistically we should be using moore in the same way the chiefs use hill. in both outside and slot
I think you should have Moore all over the field, including the slot, but definitely not exclusively the slot. Also I didn’t miss your reply lol I just have two toddler boys so sometimes responses that require a lot of looking up stats and doing math get pushed back a bit, I want to reply though lol. Responses that can’t be punched out on a phone while sitting on a toilet or stirring a pot of pasta are harder for me to get to at the moment
lol no worries man. take care of your kids. this is just a hobby forum. you'll get to it when you get to it. I just wanted to make sure it didn't get missed since you always offer good conversation and yeah I agree on moore. we should be moving him around inside and out and finding ways to get the ball in his hands. no excuse he doesn't see at least 5 touches a game
