I disagree with your comment regarding JV's 2nd sentence. The 3rd and 4th rounds are where GMs take flyers on talented players who arte raw and need coaching up or perhaps have struggled with injuries. This is especially true on a rebuilding team where they have a ton of needs. They try to find diamonds in the rough that can help the team. I don't fault JD for that. Zuniga appears to be a bust, but he couldn't have predicted Davis' injury and Davis missing all of mini-camp, OTAs, TC, preseason, and all the practice time he's missed. He still has talent. He just needs to be coached up and get more reps.
They may pay their drivers pretty well, but not their warehouse workers, and their quotas are so high, that they are forced to wear diapers and can't even take bathroom breaks. That's why they are trying to unionize.
Because hopefully, we'll have a new CS next year who will value Mims, know how to use him, and will use him.
and The thing is, on the Jets neither may have developed into even a solid player in the NFL. Coaching and scheme can definitely have a big impact.
I don’t understand this thread. On a team clearly devoid of talent, shouldn’t we be thinking of ways to build upon our talent base, rather than shipping out whatever limited talent we do have? JD doesn’t get 6 yrs to show improvement. He better show something quick, and shipping out players is not going to advance that objective.
That whole diaper story was bogus; don't believe everything you read on the internet and state and federal law require employees be allowed to take bathroom breaks - a giant corporation like Amazon is not getting away with breaking such employee protection standards. Warehouse workers on Long Island start at $21 an hour, not bad for someone with no experience. Unions are always trying to expand their footprint but get less and less traction because the market determines working conditions and pay. Amazon is more than competitive; the noise comes from those who are not used to working where their work is audited. But really - Bezos - Musk - Cuban? Who cares? Those are just pipe dreams for those of us who want change just because change gives the slightest promise that success might follow.
I don't think Crowder adds much value. Maybe a late 5th rounder at best? Maye does have solid value I'd think. The Chiefs come to mind as usually needing defensive help. I'll take a 3rd for Maye. Outside of that, we have a bunch of garbage. I'd also trade Mosely but doesn't he have a big financial commitment next year? And he's also still only played 5 (good) games
Until we draft people who can actually play and or have decent talent, we will always suck. JD is not a good drafter. Hate to say it.
It's not what you see when you login, must be bait or something. This is what I see when I login to that link: (the Pats have 3 guards in the top 15, how's that for a dick kick?)
I think it would be worth doing, if we could get enough in return. Then draft Evan Neal as his replacement - same type of player but much more athletic and can play Right or Left Tackle and Guard
Yes, assuming you are married to the scheme. He's a bad fit simply because of his frame, no doubting his talent though. Combine that with whatever trade down you can get for our amazing natural draft pick from this disaster of a year and you really could fully build a team with that haul. Instead of the Idzik 12 it could be the Douglas 42.
Based on how we're drafting I think we should have one of the 2nd round picks in the fire sale. To get back a young player with potential to play for us this year. Get the continuity rolling. I mentioned in another thread that I thought Jalen Hurts was a good target in this type of trade. Why? Because he's got about the same chance to turn into a good NFL QB that Zach Wilson does. He probably has a higher chance of turning into a good NFL backup QB capable of winning a game here and there. The point of acquiring somebody like him is that the Jets basket has another egg in it and we have a better chance of beginning to flesh out the most important position on the team. Why would the Eagles trade him for a 2nd round pick if they spent a 2nd on him just two years ago? Well, our 2nd round pick is quite good - it has a lot of value even a year out. They're also players in the DeShaun Watson trade market and an extra high 2nd round pick has real value in that context. I'm not saying that you have to go get Jalen Hurts, or even that you have to go get a young QB to throw in the mix. What I'm saying is that the build is going too slowly at this point with too little progress. A year of continuity, with young players in the mix, is being wasted. The answer is not to go get vets at the trading deadline or just to trade vets. You need to bring in some young talent to begin the process of building the team. I've always been a proponent of acquiring and stockpiling picks, however the Jets already have a surplus of picks for next year *and* they have an iffy record of turning picks into value.
I'd rather get Minshew from Phily for a 5th. But the way things are going they may end up benching Hurts for Minshew, so they wont want to trade him.
That's another totally acceptable move. I figured the Eagles might trade Hurts because they have Minshew and Flacco on the roster also.
