It's definitely by design, but it's a failing of the league's coaching society. 90% of the league's offensive coordinators and head coaches have the attitude that if they don't have Pat Mahomes, then it's unsafe to throw the ball more than 5 yards downfield. It's nonsense (particularly with the defensive coverage rule changes the league implemented 15 years ago to help Brady and Manning), but it is what it is. The NFL is a league of coaches who have failed upwards (and it shows).

Oh, neat ... we're including players who aren't playing? I bet Russell Wilson has a really shitty game tonight.

Lol that's such a stupid analogy that makes zero sense. You should have said Metcalf or someone on their offense. Keep digging, here's a shovel.

Seems like Sam's a below-average starter. Better than he looked here but not someone worth paying big bucks. Hopefully Zach ends up being better, but he isn't better right now.

Digging for what? He made a really dumb comment that the Panthers' talent is better than the Jets' talent because they have McCaffrey. So I (correctly) pointed out that McCaffrey hasn't played for four weeks (of a six week season). It's not like anyone else on the Pathers' offense is above-average; they (without McCaffrey) have the same similar shit-at-almost-every-position as the Jets do.

The Jets do not have a thousand yard receiver on the roster. The Panthers have two that did it in the same year last year.

You can say they have Jet level offensive talent to your heart's content, doesn't make it true as it's not.

He's sucked since McCaffrey has been out, which only hurts your points. You sarcastically referring to Wilson playing great again really proves you have nothing to stand on.

But that doesn't mean they are above-average. And I don't think they are above-average NFL starters. And I'd take Crowder over either one of them. And Davis is probably better than both of them, too.

You realize Russell Wilson is hurt, right?

... and therefore, not playing tonight, right?

    ... just like McCaffrey.

Yes, and we're talking about Sam Darnold. Guess you're admitting Darnold can only be good with one of the best playmakers in the game.. I'm not sure how you pointing out CM is hurt proves any point you're trying to make as nobody is buying your assessment of Carolina's offensive talent.

    Keep digging.

I doubt any GM on the league would agree with you but ok.

Not sure what your barometer is for above average starter either. They're both better players than what we have on the roster and they're definitely better than Crowder. The production proves that.

All true but it ultimately comes down to performance per dollar paid. Wilson is probably ahead of Darnold there currently even though he's been playing badly.

The berometer is "does it help my argument."

Beginning of season Darnold was a pro bowler, no mention of weapons and looking at stats. Now it's McCaffrey is hurt and they have an awful offense... But his stats don't matter he's above average his team is hurting him.

No, I'm only admitting that Darnold is playing with better talent than he had with the Jets when one of the best playmakers in the game (McCaffrey) is actually on the field. Without McCaffrey, the Panthers' offensive talent is comparable to the Jets.

Sam also had a pending long term marriage that the Jets would've had to make a decision on. For the people advocating trading down and keeping him while taking another position in the draft, I will ask this.

Would you then pay him say 4 years/$90 million after he throws 20 touchdowns & 16 interceptions in 2021 here?

That's not true by any single metric including the eye test. Your argument is dumb.

It's impossible to make an apples-to-apples comparison on contracts because Moore is still on his rookie deal. But Davis makes $12.6 million this year, Anderson makes $8.8 million this year, and Crowder makes $6.6 million. I absolutely would not concede that every GM in the league would take Anderson and Moore over Davis and Crowder.

Oh well, I'll get over it. You and I have the same amount of Super Bowl rings ... and it's the same number as 90% of the league's GMs.

If Sam had been even slightly better than dog shit for 3 quarters the Panthers win that game. I watched the entire game.
