Good article on Lawson still attending team meetings and being a part of the team despite being on IR. https://nypost.com/2021/10/05/injured-carl-lawson-envious-watching-jets-defense-flourish/
I think Gase hired his own staff, not JD. How is it that the coaches do the dirty work, but not JD? Sorry, but that doesn't make sense to me. The CS doesn't go out and get players. JD is working with the scouts poring over hours and hours of video, scouting players, analyzing them, etc. The CS helps decide on which players to ultimately take and has input, but it is JD and the scouts who do all the dirty work. The CS then coaches them up and supposedly puts them in a position to succeed. Saleh, Ulbrich and the D staff have coached up the D players and taught them the scheme. The coaching is definitely better. We know that Gase and his staff was awful. This staff has shown flashes, but are still a work in progress.
Not sure what thread to enter this --- just wanted to avoid yet ANOTHER thread. https://thejetpress.com/posts/ny-jets-4-players-elite-level-2021 Usually when you have 2 5th round picks, an undrafted free agent & a guy you claimed off another team's waivers all playing at an elite level ----- you would think that we'd be a playoff team / division leader. Certainly feathers in JD's cap. But f--king Maccagnan as well.
Everything could get inflated and I know its early in the season, - but when you look at Bryce Huff's pressure #s & even play vs the run --- it makes me feel like the pass rush need come April 2022 could move down the ladder a couple of steps.
Daniel Jeremiah is Joe Douglas' best friend though so its hard to take any of his analysis serious. He is not an objective observer in this instance. He wants Wilson to be better than Jones so his buddy succeeds
That can't be true. A number of very loud outspoken posters here that are never ever wrong about anything and have loudly been predicting a coming apocalypse, who are very critical of JD, have been lecturing us for many months telling us that trading up for AVT was awful and that we should have drafted Tevin Jenkins and 3 or 4 other possible guards. The names of who we should have drafted seem to change but that is how the draft works they let teams take back picks? A few weeks ago they labeled AVT a bust. His career was done. Why are we still discussing him? We all know players do not get better. PFF highest OL of the week. I mean come on who would believe such a thing. How could these super knowledgeable posters have been wrong? Inconceivable.
I’m a renown Zach “hater” (air quotes) and I’d take Zach over Mac every day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I would say no, but the CS might be of the mindset that the starter is the starter and backup did his job as a backup and put the players back in their respective roles.
AVT is going to be solid for a very long time, but the right side of the line still needs to be replaced. I believe that’s where the OP who criticized JD was coming from. It was more the fact that the picks could have been used to fix more than the 1 guard spot.
I hope not! Quincy is playing too well. Can't they both be on the field with Mosely? They're our 3 best LBs. Also, I don't remember...did Davis play in preseason? If so, did he produce anything even remotely close to what Quincy has done?
