The only thing that bothers me is this: all these self-righteous pundits are writing tons of sanctimonious columns condemning Gruden, but I have to wonder how many of them have made equally offensive comments in the years since 2011.

By the way, I agree that Gruden, the equal-opportunity offender, had to go.

I always figured that Gruden would fail in Las Vegas and would then fall back on a lucrative TV gig. After this, that ain't happening, is it? The only way he's ever going to get back on the air is if he buys a CB radio and broadcasts from his basement.

All Owners including Washington owner Dan Snyder who has that workplace scandal going too are protected by the NFL now and forever . That's the way Goodell rolls. We all want to see those other 600K emails Roger.

Gruden will be roasted and blacklisted for a while but the Billionaire racists and haters will just laugh it off.

What Chuckky wrote and talked about was Wrong. But 2 wrongs will never make a right.

So many other NFL club boys..coaches writers and owners have that rage , extremism too

    Punish them too

    It was ok in 1981?

I never had the pleasure of working with Gruden... but what he wrote in those emails wasn't too far from what I've heard on-air talent
say while the mikes were off.

But for the last few years... they've become a lot more cautious... but not more "woke"...

No but it was out there, unfortunately people still threw bananas at black footballers in the 80's.

It is also still 1981 in Russia and other Eastern European countries ie Hungary, they were booing the players taking the knee before the game v England tonight, the last time they played they were changing racist stuff at the black players.

I hope this isn't too crass for the Buccaneers, but cut Antonio Brown or shut the fuck up.

Randy moss certainly punched his ticket for Hollywood. What gruden said is shit, and I’m glad he’s gone. but for fucks sake, can these idiots on espn please make it just a little less obvious that they are trying to prove their worth for a seat on the woke train.

They should also remove Warren Sapp from their ring of honor. Sapp's been beating women since he was drafted.

    So much virtue signaling.

But what about this? I hope society evolves to be able to give people who use mean words second chances just like it does murderers.

The real question is would Miller have to resign if someone digs up sexist emails he wrote...

I would imagine in his time in gangs as a teenager, he probably threw the f word around as well as some sexist phrases. Given the timeframe, I doubt it was put into email.

Either way, I hope the sports world forgives Gruden in a couple years and he's back in the booth for Monday Night Football. I can't stand too many more Levy/Riddick/Griese games.

He won’t be back. No reason for him to come back. He’s made enough to not work anymore and just disappear from the public eye. You’re right though. The mnf booth is brutal.. the Manningcast is ok though.

Gruden strikes me as the type of guy who will be lost without being involved in football in some way. I think coming back would be as much about enjoying it and redemption as it is a paycheck.

Good point. I see him as too proud to grovel for his job back. That’s my thinking on him staying gone.
I hope someone gets a mike in front of him at some point. Id love to know why he was served up and by who.

I suspect that there are a lot of prominent NFL figures that are being protected in those 650,000 emails including Goodell and Gruden was as you said - served up by someone who didn't like him. Maybe even Lord Goodell who found out how much he badmouthed him.

A lot of prominent figures that will be towing the line out of fear or planning retirement.
Mark Davis is my top suspect, he saw a way out of a bad contract
