DUI charge for an NFL player is really nothing. shouldn't hurt his value much. If JD can get a 3rd that would be amazing. we don't have to pay him and we'll have double picks in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
In terms of his trade value, I think the DUI charge is the least of his worries if he withheld the arrest from the team. Who is going to pony up in a trade for an above average safety nearing thirty on the franchise tag? I can't imagine a team would want to trade that much and not have agreed in principle with Maye on a new deal, and that negotiation will be for his first long term deal which won't be a quick thing, especially since they know he will withhold information to boost his value. And I don't know how great his trade value would have been without the DUI.
Not surprised, not sad. I think the jets go after to safeties in FA next year, maybe add a pick to the safety team. He's been a good jet, but when you suck for a decade the good players tend to leave.
The problem is he didn’t disclose it . His availability for the rest of the season is a little bit sketchy. Going to be hard to get a team to cough a good pick with this over his head. If they can get any assurance from the league office he isn’t getting suspended this year then it should be a decent market for him.

This is a "buy low" opportunity and the NYJ are apparently pissing it away. What's wrong with management coming out and saying he's a good guy who made a mistake etc. Have his back and then try to sign him at a discount. If he won't play ball then trade him while saying he's a good guy--it can get you more in a trade by helping him rehabilitate his image.
I think the whole dui thing on Maye was a set up from the get go. I believe Maye was invited by Brian Flores for a quiet (shhhhh!) work out in Miami.
