I was believing the hype in training camp but it's not translating right now on the field. He is not even being thrown too and when they do he's running out of bounds and illegally catching the ball. But we have a promising 2nd year WR in Denzel Mims the coaching staff buried on the bench. Yet when he plays he's catching the ball better than Davis and every other WR on the team. Don't know why Saleh and the OC hate this guy. But the training camp hype machine Moore continues to play with no impact.
And there's your sign. So not only is Moore not the 2, but because he's getting play he's partly responsible for Mims barely playing. Or Mims should be the 2. My god...
Not really seeing the production out of Moore whereas Mims makes big catches at critical moments. If production is a base requirement of playing for LeFleur, then Mims should be on the field no question. I still think its something personal going on here with the CS and Mims.
Most QBs have a favorite receiver and Davis seems to be Wilson's, so that's where he looks to go first. The problem is that he hasn't been able to find his secondary guys like Moore and Cole yet. Hopefully that will come with time and experience.
Moore is very unreliable. If anything he should be the one parked on the bench, not Mims. He has been targeted 20 times and only caught 8 balls for a whopping 66 yards. It is killing this team. You have unreliable Moore and terrible TEs, it's like playing 8 or 9 guys vs. 11. Mims, the guy "we can't trust" has been targeted less than a quarter of the amount of times as him and has more yards. OC needs his eyes checked, results are results -- Davis & Mims on the outside. Crowder in the slot, Cole & Moore rotate in when you go to 4 WR sets, which should be a lot more often! The slow TEs can run the snack bar.
The plays are there for us. We are just missing by a hair here or hair there. Super unfortunate. This play. Crowder bubble screen, The screen that hit Moses in the back of the head
Even if that's true, he's not producing. Also - what happened to Berrios? Crowder's back so we just can't use Berrios at all who has reliable hands and moves the chains? The offensive creativity is non-existent.
Wilson's worst game, the 4 INTs vs. NE was the game Moore was targeted the most. (8 target) Wilson's best game, the win vs. TEN, Moore didn't play Does that tell you something?
Team is legit 6 deep at WR…should be playing a spread offense primarily. I also agree the creativity is very lacking. Just spread the d out 4 wide with Carter as the lone back and let Wilson sling it. Trying to force a standard NFL offense on a QB who isn’t ready on a team with no TE’s is dumb.
The offense was neglected for so long it’s gonna take a while to get going. New HC new OC new QB, new players all around, an OL that hasn’t gelled yet and a few positions that need upgrades is the result of what we’re seeing. This offseason they need a new, dependable RG (at least), a dependable pass catching TE that actually figures into the game plan on a weekly basis, a good young RB to pair with Carter (Isaiah Spiller would be a great 2nd round pick) Have those two with TY Johnson sprinkled in. (Coleman will be a FA I think with more tread on the tires) and I think a veteran QB (back up) would be a help with Zach. The OL really needs to gel, open those running lanes, and give Zach a little more time.
The team is built for the spread offense you're talking about. We have a bunch of short quick receivers and Davis on the outside who is a slants machine and less effective down the field (despite his one big catch versus Tennessee). This offense should resemble the early years of New England with dink and dunks down the field. The offensive line has also been much better the past two weeks but it's not great when you have to max protect every time you throw the ball Part of the problem is that the offense we're seeing is the offense that more closely resembles what Wilson did in college. Less receivers in the pattern, big bombs down the field, etc. We must flip the scheme.
LaFleur was an intern (coffee boy) his whole career before he ended up with George Kittle in San Fran. Maybe he doesn't know how to run an offense without a decent TE
It's better than 7 man protections and going play action Air Wilson with no running game. Teams don't line up in max protections and look for shot plays nine times a game like we do. And part of Wilson's appeal is making those plays on the run when the play breaks down anyways, isn't it? He can still do that. Unless we're going to start connecting on these big plays they just turn into bad quick three and outs.
spreading out the offense does not mean running the ball less. It might help a speed back like Carter
We can't really run the ball any less than we have anyways. We have the fourth least rushing attempts in the league.
Which is another thing that's stupid. Carter gets a decent 4 yard run on 1st down and it's not good enough for LaFleur. I'm willing to accept that 3rd downs are primarily Wilson's fault but 2nd downs this team has been terrible and that one is on LaFleur
