Lawrence? His stats are nearly identical. I can't find the post, but another poster was crying about not getting the number 1 pick and how Lawrence was righting the ship in JAX. Jets fan are really, really, really self loathing and delusional. Even if we had nice things we'd call them shit and think the grass is greener somewhere else.
If only there was an unemployed former NFL mvp that could step right in and move the chains no, Wilson has to play SMH
Wilson reminds me of J.P. Losman former Bills QB. Losman could hit the deep balls beautifully but couldn’t do much else. He was built like Wilson too
It's the opposite. Outside of one fluky season in 2015, we haven't had nice things in over a decade, yet every year, the board is full of people deluding themselves into thinking we're going to be good now.
I don't think Zach losing us a few games really matters much this year. As Legler and others have pointed out on multiple occasions its more about how he looks. And to me that has been so-so. He has especially these last two games really clanked some easy/gimme throws that any NFL QB should make. I'm really not sure what to make of that. Does he get cocky/overconfident? Lazy? He doesn't seem like the type of kid to do that and I would still assume that stuff can get cleaned up in time as he gets more comfortable and logs more time. Similar to the fairly large number of times he drops back comfortably and just throws lollipops to the other team. I'm assuming that will go away as he goes along. I feel like he has + arm talent, and (despite the lollipops) seems to be heady and resilient. Although as the #2 overall pick in the draft one would like to assume your getting all of those things and a bag of chips as well. This game was kind of frustrating for me personally as one who wanted the Jets to retain Darnold and draft Pitts. Kyle Pitts absolutely murdered the Jets today and it pisses me off thinking he could have been Kelce-ing his way to the Hall of Fame for the Jets for the next dozen years. That will be OK we missed out on that if Wilson pans out and turns into a great QB but if he doesn't??? **** me.
I am reading this, and it just feels like the case of the grass is always greener on the other side. Mahomes didn't show any consistency in his rookie year - he was on the bench all season. Lawrence didn't throw 3 TDs today as you predicted - he had a TD and INT, while leading the team to fewer points than Zach did today. And as far as his coaching being bad, do you really think our rookie OC has done an exemplary job? Davis Mills is coming off 4 INT game himself. It's tough for rookie QBs on bad teams. Lance just had a first start and a bad outing too leading his team (which is way better than the Jets) to 10 points. Oh, and Sam threw 5 picks in last 2 weeks on a much better team than the Jets as well. What I am trying to say here is that we need to be more patient. Zach is coming from BYU and NFL is a huge step up in his competition - at least the one he had in his sr year - more so than P5 guys. He is struggling right now, but jury is very much still out. The example above are just not good enough to conclude he is not special. The truth is, we just don't know yet. He certainly showed some flashes. He was also not consistent. It's been just 5 games. Let's at least see how he does in the second half of his rookie year before proclaiming him a bust.
Not even close to the outcome, there was nothing to even allude that would happen... And to go with your Darnold posts, it's amazingly clear why you've made this thread. You didn't want Zach and/or wanted to keep Darnold and it's making your posts extremely biased. The defense was more of a contributing factor to the loss. Just because he played bad doesn't mean he was the main factor.
I did not want to keep Darnold--maybe I'm wrong or right on that, but I wasn't a fan of going that route. He wasn't worth having to give a second contract to and the fan base wouldn't have allowed it. My main frustration is that ownership didn't step in to ensure we landed the 1st overall pick. That is what makes me upset and why our problem is ownership above all else. After Lawrence, every prospect had significant red flags. They all had big risks. I was fine with the Wilson selection. I'm not sure what makes me delusional by acknowledging two simple things: 1. Ownership screwed this franchise by not intervening to make sure we landed the generational prospect 2. Wilson's play is very concerning right now, particularly his interceptions and accuracy with short/intermediate The defense was a weakness today, but definitely not the main reason. This offense cannot sustain drives.
Lawrence hasn't looked great but he has definitely moved the ball a bit easier than the rest of the bunch and put together drives while looking comfortable. He has an extremely long way to go to be an adequate starter in this league but the early prognosis is much better than the other four.
Christopher Johnson: Adam, please start James Morgan these last few games--I want to see what we have in him and don't want to risk Sam's already injured shoulder going into next year. Gase: But but but--he's not.... Christopher Johnson: I'm the owner--do what I say Jets lose out and select generational prospect that was the first overall pick since highschool. That easy. Except the Jets have incompetent owners that don't know how to run a club. So we have a huge boom or bust prospect at QB now that's going to require very good coaching to make sure he develops into an even half decent starter. And we haven't had a decent offensive coaching staff since 1998. Not a recipe for success right there.
The more I see Allen, Blake, and Hebert playing well, the more I despised the Jets draft picks including Darnold. and starting to despised that ZW is not showing signs of progressing to those guys level in their first year
