"Saleh is not the problem," but he hired La Fleur instead of a more experienced guy and if he's done anything to get LaFleur on track it is not obvious. He's also responsible for every guy who takes the field, VanRoten included. Saleh is responsible for putting a rookie QB on the field and for not kicking over JD's garbage can every day until he brought in a viable backup. He didn't cause the injuries and he didn't work guys in who could takeover. Saleh is the guy totally responsible for bringing in every system and how tough to learn they need to be. Yep, he's the head coach, even over the two or three dozen wide receivers who have been available to him. But, apparently, for some he is not responsible for any of the things hurting this team. Exactly what is he responsible for?
Playing all 60mins? Seriously?? They played the 2nd half as usual but ghosted the entire 1st half.. AGAIN. Cmon man, I know you're trying to be optimistic but really now... played all 60mins? No, they did not.
He won't even hold LeFleur accountable for lousy game planning. We see the same old ineffective playcalling 5 straight weeks now in the 1st half. Think LeFleur might take a hard look at what's not working? Perhaps one day but he doesn't have to worry about his job no matter what the results are.
That should be the bare minimum effort that we get from the team. They're being paid handsomely to play a game. Expecting them to give the maximum effort for what amounts to three hours on a Sunday afternoon (or in this case, morning, or evening where they were) is the absolute minimum we should expect from them.
I think I've found the problem. After watching the late games on RedZone, the Jets aren't actually playing football. I'm seeing amazing catches, terrific running and superb effort...not so much of that watching the Jets.
Jeez. There was a ton wrong. Some truths: This is an extremely young, untalented secondary, Made up of low draft choices and folks not even drafted. They were picked apart by the #8 all time passing yard QB. The last 4 QBs they faced was Darnold, Mac, Teddy B, and Tannehill. Not a murderers row of QBs. Expectations on the D were too high. The DL was worrisome. JFM getting paid might have alleviated his motivation. The QB is young. The OC is young (and stubborn to a fault). The HC is young. We botched 7 straight drafts across Macg and Idzik. Said different, chill the f*ck out. We have a GM who's made 3 bad decisions. 1) Not getting a backup QB who can mentor Zach (Knapp was the plan) 2) Robbie Anderson.
Meh I do feel the staff has to do better in terms of putting Zach in better situations...because he is indeed asked to do a lot more as opposed to other QB's around the league. The other QB's have some semblance of a run game, and they use their QB in that run game. Either you do the same or you have to stick to running the football. Zach has the talent but asking him to win games right now is a LOT on his plate. He's not not seasoned to do some of those things the Jets are asking him. And yes getting off to a better start is much needed. They had only 18 rushes today. They've been only getting around 50 plays a game. You have to get this run game going. I like Carter and feel they've been right to give him the reigns but they need more. The offensive line is starting to play solid all around too.
