Would have been nice to have a Kurt Warner type starting this year with Wilson maybe getting on the field after mid-season if the jets really wanted him to take a beating his rookie season. Installing a new offense with a new coaching staff and mostly new personnel with a rookie QB was one of the worst moves I have ever seen an NFL team make.
Oh c'mon... let's have some perspective. The Jets do dumb shit all the time. If this doesn't work out... it'll be just another mistake in a long line of bad decisions. Shit... being a Jets fan is a bad decision...
Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard are nothing special, but either could've held the fort while the OL went through growing pains. Both played for the 49ers and surely knew at least some of LaFleur's system.
Mullens is atrocious but every time I've seen Breathard play whether it's spot duty or other he calmly moves the ball. He was perfect for this situation. But Saleh, JD and friends thought they were going 2012 Seahawks this season.
Bump. The game is too fast for him right now. When he starts pressing you can literally see him aim the ball and lose a feel for his mechanics which is why he loses velocity on his balls (like the Crowder bubble screen). That is an easy explanation for why his ball placement isn't great right now. Go outside and try to aim a football perfectly and you'll feel it happen. It's a shame we pressed him into duty like this because he has a lot of good raw skills.
Probably the biggest mistake JD/RS have made. Zach is clearly not ready for prime-time and we might be witnessing the destruction of yet another promising talent at QB. The Jets simply don't learn from past mistakes. Zach pulled a few plays out of his ass last week, but you cannot consistently win in the NFL by playing streetball. If you can't play from the pocket, you can't play. That's just the way it works. He needed to sit and learn the game, the speed, the reads, etc. Unfortunately, here we are.
Zach is fine. Do you think he would learn quicker from the bench? Arm chair GMs are amazing. Defense makes a stop Zach might have won us that game.
Yep. I do. Hence the premise of this entire thread. Zach drives us down the field for a touchdown in the first half we also may have won the game.
I actually think he’s fine if the coaching staff plays to his strengths…he’s an ultimate gunslinger and we should be taking way more shots and playing up tempo with a primarily vertical passing game He’s not ready for a traditional offense which is why we are god awful to start games
He is a rookie on a team that won two games. Zach looks pretty good to me this far. He is exactly what I thought he would be this season.
No one is insinuating Wilson should be benched. The idea is that he never should've started the season. And no, it's a much different situation with Lawrence given that he played three full years as the full time starter against power 5 teams and excelled.
Why even bother? Lol it's a waste of time Let's also completely ignore the gut punch from the refs in the first drive of the game that immediately built momentum for Atlanta. There is so much to this. But don't worry, Zach sucks and he should be benched lol
