This loss hurts but let's have some perspective

    Rookie Head Coach
    Rookie Offensive Coordinator
    Rookie Defensive Coordinator
    Rookie Quarterback

and... one of the youngest rosters in the NFL.

Not my job to tell you how to feel but wanted to share my 2 cents.

    Boss.

To me, clock starts next year. A full season under everyone's belt. We better see some real improvements next year or else I am switching to the dark side.

The OC is by far the biggest concern right now. I'm not ready to fire him, but he has to put Zach in a position to succeed knowing that it's asking a lot for a rookie to carry the team.

You are the voice of reason!

The defense put us in a huge hole. The offensive play calling was shitty and once again we were victimized by drops early. At the end of the day we scored to make it a 3 point game with almost 7 minutes to play. We then let Atlanta for on a 4:36 TD drive. That was the nail. We had a chance and the defense blew it. Zach was mediocre at best but the ball was taken out of his hands when we needed a stop.

I would like to see some improvement by the end of this season, especially from the young QB, overall you are right and there is no need to hit the panic button. The good part about this game is it wasn't a complete disaster (score wise).

Agreed young blood... Wish Sales brought an experienced OC with him. Not really impressed with Mike LaFleur one bit.

    Well said bickety

Good point and I definitely accept that. But I don't accept the bad playcalling and not having your team prepared. That is the very basic function of coaches. The OC could have simplified the game plan for Wilson more play action getting Carter out in space instead of running up the gut. That is not his strength.

I agree that the defense has done a poor job of coming up big with the game potentially on the line, the only excuse I have for them is the same as the QB and the offense overall, they are young.

But as you said, they had a chance to get the offense the ball back only down by 3, but instead gave up the dagger and left us down 10 with a little over 2 to go.

The D also got bailed out by the missed FG against the Titans, they let the Titans drive in under 2 to tie it and were bending on that OT drive.

The D also failed to come through on the Panthers, down by 5 with all 3 timeouts left, and the D lets CMC run 18 yards on 2nd and 10 to seal the deal and prevent our offense any opportunity to come out in the 2 minute drill and try to steal the game.

Overall, as with the offense, there is a lot to be desired defensively, and it would be great to see them close out a game, or prevent the other team from closing out a game on us every now and then.

I still have a huge problem with the general manager not getting Zach a seasoned veteran to work with as a backup. There's just no excuse for that.

OK - but does it not also seem somewhat silly to have a Rookie Head Coach; Rookie Offensive Coordinator; Rookie Defensive Coordinator and Rookie Quarterback all at the same time - whose bright idea was that? Why not have at least 1 person making decisions that's actually been there before and had some success - not having a vet QB on the roster to be able to plug in to win winnable games and to stop Wilson from getting killed or gun shy just seems nuts - and why not bring in an accomplished OC that can actually scheme around having a rookie QB

You forgot the youngest roster in the NFL. Everyone's learning on the job. They will either come through it much better for the experience or bomb completely. This is where Knapp's loss is mostly keenly felt I think. He was QB and OC mentor in many ways.

By they time they figure things out Zach will likely be done over the same as Sanchez and Darnold and on his way out the door as will the coaching staff

Do the NYJets "have a bright future?"

I can't even look at that Post after today

The defense can get good but the biggest problem runs through Zach soaring or busting ...he just looked terrible and that's very depressing tbh

So what are Saleh and LaFleur doing with this team ? Or Joe Douglas??

At this point any team going forward can beat us..and doubtful we beat another Team for next 12 weeks
