cole wasn't but broke free for a few big ones again the coaches see these players every day for hours a day. If the coaches feel he's not the best option we have no reason to think they are lying
I’d stick with Davis - Cole - Crowder btw. Wilson seemed to benefit from the vets. However, blaming Mims for not making an impact on a handful of plays is absurd
I understand that point. but the point people are pushing here that mims is some great WR and the coaching staff refuses to play him makes 0 sense. I get it with gase and gore last eyar refusing to play the younger RBs because he wanted gore to get his 15k yards and gase was a piece of shit and a bad coach, but saleh and company have given 0 reason for us to believe that they dislike mims and the reality is he just isn't playing as well as the others are.
It was really nice to see the WR corps start playing to their potential and make some big plays. TE is looking to be the biggest need on the team along with interior of the OL.
I agree at this point I would say TE, RG, and safety. Although we need to resign JFM and Fatukasi and at least one of Crowder and Berriis. Scherff will be available next off-season and the Redskins I doubt will be able to franchise him a 3rd time. If we sign Scherff we can almost draft BPA with very few major needs.
So far, Moore hasn't made anyone expendable. It may happen down the road but we shouldn't count our eggs before they hatch.
Moore is ranked in the top 30 in the NFL in separation rate averaging 2 yards of seperation. If the OL gives Zach time Moore is likely to do very well especially with Crowder and Davis also on the field.
Duds: the two game thread guys that did nothing but trash Wilson and the Jets for the first half ("Can we bench this guy already?") only to disappear like a fart in the wind when Zach started playing well. Also got to love the Darnold updates. I'll admit that I check out the last 2 weeks. I can't take the game day threads. You would think we were on a Miami forum.
I love the Darnold interceptions. When he plays good teams, he will throw bad picks, have fumbles, and get happy feet.
The BEST part of Zach playing well and winning is @GasedAndConfused won't have to create a new thread titled: "Breakdown of Zach's 6 ints and why 3 may be the Oline's fault" I enjoy these studs and duds threads much more....thanks for taking the time writing them!
I agree with these needs. we do have plenty of money to spend next offseason too. If I had to guess were likely to spend later picks on safeties like we did CBs and LBers and take guys in rounds 3-7 to fill that up and let maye walk. I think JD brings back foley and JFM plus we'll get lawson back as well. JD puts an emphasis on both lines and is willing to spend and use high picks on them. not sure what we'll do at WR since everyone but moore, davis, and mims are pretty much FAs but we have flexibility there too. not to us but to the coaching staff he has
well the all 22s are up now in the US so when moore comes back and I can key on him and see how he's doing better
He came back to earth a little in the second half yesterday ….. I like the kid personally but I really think these last couple of weeks have been a slight aberration…
I agree. Saleh puts an emphasis on the lines and corners and safeties do not have as much value. I can see them doing what you say and drafting a few 3rd day safeties. The odds if a Maye trade before the deadline are pretty good. It would not surprise me too see the Jets bring back Berrios or Crowder. Resigning JFM has to be a priority as well as Fatukasi. Given the few holes right now I could see the Jets next off-season putting an emphasis on the OL. Signing Scherff, drafting a tackle and maybe a center as well as targeting TEs in FA and in the draft. JD supposedly made a play for J.Smith last offseason before he signed with NE. These next few years should be exciting and we are really setup with pucks and capspace to add a lot of talent the next two years.
They protected Wilson well but run blocking wasn't awful? We averaged 2.6 yards per carry which is inflated by two Berrios runs. The run blocking was terrible.
They are trying to make Moore a Z (outside smaller receiver), rather than just a slot receiver. I think there are a few reasons for this - (i) slot is tougher for a rookie to play because the routes change often depending on the defensive read and (ii) the jets feel that they have a couple of other good slot receivers in Crowder and Berrios, so for 3 wide receiver sets that would allow them to get Davis, Crowder/Berrios and Moore as the starting 3. If they put Moore in the slot, then they won't be able to get Crowder and Berrios in, unless they go for a 4 wide receiver set. Otherwise the only Z they have would be Cole. By using Moore as a Z they would then have 2 Zs on the roster - Cole and Moore (Mims is an X). They feel Moore is good enough to be both a Z and a slot - but it slows his development because he has to learn both slot and Z. Z also plays off the line of scrimmage so its tougher to jam them and the gadget receivers are often Zs, so he could be a good Z. Can't wait to see what Moore does once he starts to get comfortable in the NFL.
