Studs Zach WIlson - by far the best game of his young career. He showed off his elite arm strength with a 60+ yard laser between 2 defenders without even being able to get his body into it for a go ahead TD. he was clutch with most of his production coming in the 4th and OT. He showed amazing touch on the OT pass to cole. amazing composure on the bad snap where he picked it up and completed it to crowder. He showed why he was worth of the 2nd overall pick. the talent he has and composure is amazing. got his 1st win and the sky is the limit The WR group - no moore and no smith yesterday. no problem. Davis, cole, and crowder all came up big time. Davis looked rough to start with a dropped ball and slipping resulting in an INT. but rebounded well to the tune of 4 got 111 yards and a TD on 6 targets. also caused a PI penalty that was good for 40ish yards. cole caught 3 for 92 on 4 targets including a 50+ yarder on a diving catch and an amazing sideline grab in OT. crowder was a chain mover with 7 for 61 yards and a big TD. coleman - numbers don't pop out but he was big in pass protection and had that great leap to pick up an important first. Fant/Moses/AVT - all 3 were excellent today. PFF rated them 82,76.1,72.5 (AVT, Moses, Fant) pass protection was much better and run blocking wasn't awful either for the most part/ AVT actually doing good in the pass game is encouraging. Bryce Hall - dude was revis island 2.0 out there. ok i'm exaggerating, but he has been an excellent CB. was targeted 9 times and allowed 2 catches for 27 yards and had 3 PDs. also had a half sack but pressures on other sacks where our D had 7 total. oh and a few nice open field tackles on henry. D-line - Espcially JFM and Q and huff but really the whole line was amazing. Q had 2 sacks, huff 1.5, and JFM 1 but they were getting pressure all day without letting henry gash them too badly. they combined for 4 TFLs as well. Quincy and CJ - 2 of the 3 Lbers that just balled out. I know PFF rated them low but they were facing henry and making open field tackles all game. we were a little weak against the screens but Q was bringing the hit sticks all game. 25 tackles 2 sacks and 3 TFL between the 2 of them coaching staff - saleh did great having the team ready and not quitting after an 0-3 start. MF called a great game on offense as did ulbrich on defense. The fans - stadium was electric.they were loud and into it at the end of the game. stuck out a rough 1st half too. all the action came in the last 20 mins Duds Refs - Ten had some awful calls against them but mostly we got screwed. the refs were awful all day. the muffed punt our gunner was blocked into him but we were flagged. the illegal touching the refs gave them a free down after stopping the game for 5 mins to figure it all out. they missed several big blocks in the back that allowed henry some big runs. just overall a poorly officiated game. broadcast - once again the commentators were awful, the lack of replays and good camera angles. CBS coverage has gone down the shitter GVR - once again our worst lineman. he called out zach last week, zach responded GVR did not. can't wait for him to be replaced and off the team. he brings nothing to the table. PFF rated him at a 48.5 the TE group - all of them, non factors. we need a new TE badly. the people here championing mims - saying the coaching staff is bumbling him. he was a non factor meanwhile crowder, davis, and cole were all huge factors. Also if you guys want me to key in on anything for the rewatch let me know!
With the WR group I noticed Mims got a snap more then Berrios. And going forward, one has to expect once Moore gets off concussion protocol he will swoop in and take snaps away from Cole/Crowder. And it’s okay, because Zach needs his best guys out there and if Mims is on the outside due to a loaded WR room then so be it.
When Zack gave the go long sign that was when he popped. There will be some ups and down as we go along but whatever it is he has it. So enjoy the ride.
Yeah, I agree with all of that, @GasedAndConfused! Studs: -Zach Wilson: Made some amazing plays that I have not seen a Jets QB make in a long time. -Jamison Crowder: He made a huge impact in his return from injury. -CJ Mosley: True leader of the defense. Great to see. He was truly missed in 2019 and 2020. -Corey Davis: Made some huge catches after that early drop and slip that lead to an interception. -Keelan Cole: He showed why the staff doesn't care at all about Denzel Mims at the moment. -Robert Saleh: Loved his intensity on the sideline. When I was mad, he was mad. Nice to see after Bowles and Gase, who literally show 0 emotion. -Matt Amendola: He made every extra point and two key kicks. Sounds simple, but Jets kickers in the past would find a way to blow it. Duds: -Starting slow. This is not one specific person, but the Jets have played 4 games, and the offense has started slow in all 4. They need to get off to better starts. -Greg Van Roten: Because.
I would add that AVT became the 1st OL to go an entire game without giving up a pressure. https://jetsxfactor.com/2021/10/04/ny-jets-ol-titans/
-The game never should have gone to overtime. That's on both the offense and the defense. -Young squad... but they need to learn to close out games -Titans gave up a bunch of yards in penalties. -We need some better play from the tight ends. -Rankins is beast. -Mosely continues to impress. His calls were key. -We saw what Zach can do when he gets protected by the o-line and the play calls. Expect more good stuff if he gets time to let it rip.
You know a team has been bad for years when they win a game in OT and basically the whole team is "studs."
He certainly made up for an awful start, but his mistakes were VERY costly again. As good as he was after, I really want to see him having a complete game where he doesn't cause INTs or drop easy balls AND delivers like he did later in the game.
Usually X Factor lists them in an article the day after each game. One note is that Fant has done remarkably well since he moved to LT.
slipping isn't really a mistake. just bad luck. goes under shit happens. he had an early drop but outside of that was money
The WR group came together only after Crowder was added to the mix, and the Jets shortchanged this guy. I don't get it. In any case, he has to be in the slot going forward above Moore, Berrios and Smith, regardless of the hype. Not a knock on any of them, Crowder is simply better. Not flashy, but he consistently gets open and makes catches.
moore made him expendable. he's still a great slot WR though and will be very helpful this season to zach but IDK if he comes back next year. probably won't
