I'd venture to say Davis has been the worst starting receiver in the league this year.

You're taking my blame as literal. Of course the blame is on Corey for not catching the ball. My point is that there is so much going through these guys heads on the routes and scheme that they are messing up the simple things. The same holds true for Zach. He runs a plain jane offense in the preseason and looks great. He runs the full offense and struggles. He's thinking too much.

I don't think it's a coincidence everyone on the offensive side of the ball is struggling. Everyone

This offseason I mentioned Trai Turner and Pat Elfline as two guys we should have had just now. JD let both of them go, and I didn't give it much though at the time. Thinking back now though, it looks like we could have definitely used these guys. Had enough CAP to keep both.

Letting Elflein leave for peanuts made no sense. Even if he ended up as a backup.

I also figured we could've made a play for Austin Blythe, who started three years for the Rams in the zone scheme and he went for $2 million. There were other guys out there.

You could have made the exact same argument for Idzik. Also if you think the problem is the coaching, Douglas is responsible for that too...

No I blame Saleh for that one who hired the coach in question

I'd imagine Douglas knew who Saleh was going to hire as OC when he made the decision to hire Saleh.

Oh I'm sure but then again I don't know that hiring Lafleur was a bad move at the time. Lafleur was widely seen around the league as a solid hire with a long resume of success with receivers. He also was the passing coordinator for the 49ers during a very successful bunch of years.

I don't think it was a bad hire, I just think Lafleur may be a victim of biting off more than he can chew running the entire offense.

Yeah, but at least Saleh and Douglas approved of giving him that big bite; they need to bear the responsibility because it's theirs.

It's simple ..you win games the Coach the GM and OC etc are ready for hall of fame

Losing is the Highway to Hell and everyone suxs ....especially the GM Mr Joe Disappointment >>>who is in charge of the hired help running the establishment. Right now we are on the way to Palookaville..and no the Jets have not been a Contendah in over 10 years

Oh ..and did I forget to mention " you are who your record says you are" ...B Parcells

    0-3 0-4 0-5 0-6 0-7 0-8 etc etc

That's a bit of an over exaggeration. He's had some bad drops but 12 catches for 146 and 2 TD's through 3 games on an anemic offensive team is definitely not worst starting receiver in the league worthy.

4 catches for 49 yards per game when you average it out. If not the worst starting receiver, certainly the worst #1 receiver. Houston has Brandon Cooks + Jacksonville has Marvin Jones who have both been better. Detroit has Hockenson as their lead dog who has been much better.

Maybe a bit of an exaggeration but not much I don't think.

He's also dropped balls that have killed drives and directly dropped a ball leading to an interception and was involved in another.

Three TD’s?!? We don’t even have three FG’s!

More like the Johnsons throwing darts at a board after 10 shots of tequila blindfolded without arms…

I completely agree with the rest of your post. The talent that was here was not conducive to a total rebuild, they were either too high priced like Adams, or just good enough to lead to 9 to 10 win seasons. I am still on Joe Douglas’s side, but he has to start hitting at the top of the draft. Benton instead of Wirfs hopefully is an outlier moving forward.

With the 9ers, Rams, and cards they all either hit on a QB or had talent and just needed the right leadership. The chargers may have the best long term quarterback of ANY team right now, and the dolphins also had a lot more talent than we do or did when the rebuild started.

The Jets right now are the Browns just before the worst of the worst and it pains me to say that. The browns almost fell into being good after picking top 3 for 10+ yrs. they were bound to get some of those right. The difference is the Jets got their quarterback early, rather than after accumulating talent.

    We’ll see if that works…

I think going against second and third teamers had something to do with it as well…

Yes and that’s even with Saleh kicking a gutless FG down 2 touchdowns late in the NE game

I'm sure if you use the search button on here and look up Elfein I doubt he comes across as somebody we would miss, I would do it myself but I can never find anything with the search facility lol

Hollywood Brown dropped 3 easy catches in week 2, 2 TD chances, definitely 1 for sure, he must be pushing Davis for most drops this season.

I'm not saying they don't bear any responsibility for it. I'm saying it's not the end of the world for Saleh and Douglas if he doesn't work out.
