I do think that this mess is a lot more than a rookie QB. Our OC seems to be clueless, use your strengths, not what you think you want to have. Other than our defense, this team seems like a rudderless ship. The CS, and GM need to get their shit together.
Come on now, at least own what you write. "If you want to shit on zach in that situation then you clearly don't see the big picture." These are your exact words in your post responding to me. We don't need to continue going around in circles. The only thing that Wilson's performance needs to be compared to is what is acceptable; comparing his performance to that of anyone else is simply a waste of time that reeks of excuse making. As a rookie the bar is low for what would be acceptable - let's just see if he can get there regardless of whatever his peers or predecessors do or have done - they won't help the Jets win a single game.
I've rewatched every game. i'm doen breakdowns on a few things as well. it's pretty clear right now the issue is the o-line and WRs/RBs dropping balls.
shitting on zach has nothing to do with comparing him to other players. sorry if I struck a nerve. maybe you just need some thicker skin or you know pay attention to the game and know what to bitch about before bitching
So who is it that "shit on Zach"? Simply spewing such nonsense sure doesn't show any cognizance of the conversation. Constantly talking about other players does nothing to address the problem that is Wilson nor does it demonstrate anything at all about any game. "But he did it too" didn't cut it as an excuse in pre-school.
The forum as a whole. take the chip off your shoulder. it gives you a rotten attitude and quite honestly you are just kinda a dick to everyone for no reason. If you can't understand play vs expectations and others in a similar situation maybe you aren't suited to be on a forum where stuff like that is discussed
You do seem to be a bit condescending. Maybe you should consider the pain, hope, and suffering that many of us senior Jets fans have endured.
I'm a senior jet fan as well. I know it has been brutal. no need to take it out on other jet fans. Just because someone is upset doesn't give them the right to treat others poorly. As far as being condescending goes, That's not me, but I can't take how others accept words. The reality most people who feel like someone is being condescending to them is just their own insecurity of feeling less then others and nothing to do with the person they are calling condescending.
The thing is, I don't see the forum as a whole shitting on Wilson - I haven't, so why put anything about that in a post in reply to me? I call out people who make assumptions they cannot back up; if that's too tough for you to deal with perhaps you're the one who doesn't belong here. One more time - Wilson gets judged on what he does, not what anybody else does. That's not hard to understand.
I'm sorry, I don't understand the money argument. How can cap space possibly be an issue with a team that has an average player age of 25.1, which is the youngest in the NFL? You could have played Darnold one more year under his existing contract, and evaluated him to determine if he should get paid. And guess what? If he deserved it, this team could have easily afforded it.
It is great what the organisation has managed to do there - getting Diggs was huge - as I am not local I don't have the same rivalry with other AFC East teams (other than the Pats of course) and always felt bad for the Bills after getting to so many SBs and losing them all - it must have been brutal - so I hope you guys finally manage to get that win (as I don't see the Jets getting there any time during the next decade or two or three).
The NY Jets have somehow branded being cheap as a youth movement I think the Johnsons lost a bunch of money with Covid and orders came down to go cheap. I almost hope thats the case anyway and not that putting these young players out there every week is an idea they wanted
it's an 8 page thread about zach wilson sucking. that was the main topic. You may think that's what your doing, but no you are just grabbing 1 thing you are too feeble minded to comprehend and dragging it out because you can't understand it and get offended by that. then being a dick about it. sorry i just call out people who are dumb and don't see it and then act like a dick. if you can't handle that. too bad. you aren't on the level mentally to have an actual discussion with other people.
not insecure, wants to get in an age battle. yup sure you aren't man. If you weren't insecure it wouldn't matter of I was 6 or 60.
I disagree. JD and Saleh work together. Saleh had input into the draft and into FAs and how the team was going to be built for this season. He is in lockstep with JD, so if JD deserves blame, then so does Saleh. In fact, Saleh deserves more. JD just shops for the groceries. Saleh is the cook. He hired his assistant chefs, and his main assistant (LaFleur) is in over his head and has no clue what he is doing. HE (LaFleur) is 90% of the problem right now imo, not Zach, not JD, not the defense, but it's the sorry offensive (in every sense of the word) game plan, play calling, play design, who is playing, etc. LaFleur and need to start feeling tremendous heat.
I'm sincerely starting to believe that there really is a curse on this team. Whether it was from Joe Namath, our stupid owners, or something else, who knows, but it's definitely cursed. I think the success of Zach and the offense this season hinged on Knapp. Only with the Jets would it happen that that key coach gets killed before the season.
No, your point isn't being made. If Sam was still the QB, he would be completely ruined and useless by now. He would no longer even be serviceable with this OC, OL, and the way his WRs have been dropping passes. He'd be sitting in a corner babbling, playing with his feces. Add in his own happy feet, lousy mechanics, and inaccurate throws, and it would have been a total clusterfuck. I love ya, guy, but imo you couldn't be more wrong, tom. The ONLY reasons that Sam is playing much better this season, is getting away from the Jets and the bad memories here, and getting great coaching from Brady, and an offense that fits his talents.
I don't know if I would say we've gone cheap considering we only have about 8M left in cap space right now according to Spotrac. What really sucks is we're still paying about 24-25M in dead cap to guys no longer on the team, Trumaine Johnson, Sam, Lev Bell, Enunwa, Herndon, and Henry Anderson, all of which will be totally off the books starting next year. So while it may feel like we've gone cheap, I think that's more a byproduct of not having an extra 25M to make moves this offseason. JD has made some missteps in his tenure so far but we've gotta give him credit for getting us out of the cap hell that Maccagnan got us into. With how this season has started, I know that's a very hollow accomplishment but it's still an accomplishment nonetheless.
