Ok, now that I have calmed down and my blood pressure has returned to limits that can actually be measured by human medical devices, my thoughts: We are going to wind up wrecking Zack Wilson and be right back in the same place we were with Sam Darnold, that is, having no idea if he is or isn't a legitimate NFL QB. It's the same story as in the past, young promising QB out of College, terrible OL, terrible WR's, terrible RB's, terrible play selection, terrible coaching, getting banged around unmercifully and subsequently injured with no legitimate back up QB to relieve the kid if needed, and most importantly, a total lack of offensive ingenuity in adjusting to opponents strengths and weaknesses. I feel as though I am still watching Adam Gases offense! Did LaFleur just pick up his playbook and carry on? How they did not use Zack's legs against a ferocious pass rush and just let him stand there and get crushed 65 times is beyond negligent. Unfortunately for Zack, his best WR is scratched week after week over semantics. This nonsense about learning other position is horse bleep. This team is devoid of any offensive punch and needs all of its players on the field. Its ironic, the longest and only 40+ yard pass play we had this year was caught my Mims back in week 1 garbage time. Defensively everyone is applauding and saying how great they were / are. That's a load of crap! They stink too! They still can never get off of the field on 3rd down when the game is close and in question. Mel Gordon gashed them yesterday in the first half. Of course they got better when Denver stopped playing at 17-0, same as Carolina. When teams go up by that much against a totally inept opponent, they lighten up because they know they do not have to do too much more to secure a W. Lets call it like we see it. JD has been a huge flop. There is no sugar coating this. His drafting has been abysmal. 2020 1st round pick is fat, out of shape, over sensitive (he did not like a comment I tweeted and flamed me back for it) and injured every 10 minutes. His #2 pick from 2020 cannot sniff the field. Just a disaster. This staff he put in place has shown to be no better, and no more competent than Gases was thus far, in fact, I sat there yesterday asking myself if we went from bad (Bowles) to worse (Gase) to equally as bad or dare I say even worse (Salah). Besides the Mims fiasco, the total look of incompetence and unpreparedness that this team exhibits weekly is astounding for a supposed NFL team. How you cannot get the FG team on the field in time to kick a FG and get a delay of game penalty is mind boggling. Every game there is at least 1 4th and 1 where LaFleur calls a shotgun formation to throw a pass to a RB that can't catch the ball or runs straight into the LOS for no gain. Last week against NE just throwing the ball wherever, whenever, to yesterday's zero game planning, to calling time outs down 26-0 with 30 seconds left. In closing, I feel for everyone who loves this team like I do. We were fed all kinds of BS about this great new CS with the brother of GB head coach as our OC, and great new QB and how our future is so bright. I feel more hopeless and desperately down on this franchise than I ever have. At 59 years young, I am now 100% sure I will never get to see the team I love play in a Super Bowl, let alone win one. For all of you old timers like me, the NY Jets have become a hybrid of the Detroit Lions, 1970's New Orleans Saints, and the 1990s Cleveland Browns, that being perennial doormat loser incompetent franchises. Some decade soon they will get it right, but I know I will be long gone by then. On and on....
Great post ..and I have following for more years than you have ..(sigh 3xs) I will be on the Raider Fan Board in addition to checking in on the rotting corpse of NYJ football
AVT has been putrid too. No more kids from USC please. but the PFF grades for the #Jets OL against the #Broncos LT George Fant: 63.3 LG Alijah Vera-Tucker: 48.6 C Connor McGovern: 63.3 RG Greg Van Roten: 60.3 RT Morgan Moses: 53.5
I watched them "do their jobs" yesterday ...you have to be kidding Hasty. Wilson ran and ran while the OL collapsed courtesy of AVT. Wilson hit Davis on his stone hands a few times..did he forget how to catch? Unfortunately CD is 37 mil down the drain..feh

You mention the Browns turnaround but that was coming off two rough years of 1-31 and they parlayed that, through additional shifting of any non-rookie with trade value, into two drafts that netted them Garret, Peppers, Njoku, Ogunjobi & Mayfield, Ward and Chubb. Where's our QB wrecking machine, The guy who can go up against the other teams #1 WR or the home run threat from the backfield? If you can't draft near or actual pro-bowl players at these game-changing positions then FA's aren't going to sign-up for a team that has no hope of winning.
NYjets012, I hear ya...50+ years of this crap. Been watching CP and Sam, at least they have a competent CS decent to excellent players and are competitive. However, there OL is maybe a step above ours but not by much...
This is where winning those meaningless games that cost us Nick Bosa is really starting to hurt us. Everything has a ripple effect. We are consistently the least pragmatic franchise in the league.
I meant more that he was attempting throws that were lower percentage or risky to “see what he can get”.
AVT will be fine. He played OT at USC in a shortened 2020 season and during his transition back to guard, he missed almost all of training camp and didn't play in the preseason at all.
JH, its been brutal man.. CD is stealing JD's money. He's no #1 WR. AVT is just another brick in the wall. Mason is nothing special.
