I don't believe Zach's psyche is so fragile that he'll lose it if sidelined. The benefits to doing so are:

    1. He gets to learn from observation--we know this is beneficial to most rookie QB's

    2. He can "fresh slate" his recent memories and regain confidence

    3. Let White take the beating

    4. Maybe White plays well--then we have a value as backup or trading asset

No. Wilson learns from playing not sitting.

Negative. Fix the issues around him, don't bench him

No way in hell the CS makes that admission that they fucked up. They're the ones who said Zach was a Day 1 starter. They were wrong OR they overrated the talent they were working with. Either way, Zach will continue getting his ass kicked every Sunday until either the season is over OR he winds up on IR. Just the grim reality of it.

It's too late for that unfortunately. It creates more dysfunction benching him and looks like he's being benched because he's the sole issue, not because he wasn't ready/the team wasn't ready for him.

Because then the next controversy becomes when does he play again when White is 11/25 for 134 yards, a pick and 8 sacks.

That's not always really true, but at this point he can't sit. He's in it to take his lumps and learn with his feet to the fire.

I'm on the fence here now.

At the beginning of the season I was completely in the "throw Wilson to the wolves and see if he survives" camp. I had no idea the pass protection would be this bad though. Wilson is on pace to smash Carr's sacks-taken record which is completely unacceptable.

Barring a miraculous turnaround in our pass protection I think it's fair to consider letting someone else take the beating. The "running for his life" line for QB's is overused but that's legitimately what Wilson has been subject to so far. The average time he has before the pocket collapses is 1.7 seconds. The quickest-throwing QB's in the league get rid of it around 2.5 seconds. The state of the OL is just unplayable at the moment.

When a HOF baseball hitter is in a slump he sits a game or two--no one is saying thats a negative. I agree some PR would be necessary to explain its not a reflection on Zach--its a reflection on the state of the team--but I get it, its a tough sell although true.

Nah, no point. Let Zach learn. I never understood why White the backup? We needed a veteran desperately. As much I thought McCown was not good, he had started in the NFL long time. We need someone in the room to help Zach!!!

Learning occurs when the overall environment allows one to learn--what good is it to send a kid to school if they are worrying about being stabbed all the time? Same thing with Zach--sure, live learning is great but can't occur under the current circumstance IMO.

I'm not sure he's learning anything other than bad habits due to being under fire. We've already seen some regression in his fundamentals from week 1 until now - things like not planting his feet etc. AKA things that are the result of being under immense pressure every time you drop back to pass.

This is not accurate. Especially given that I played baseball all the way through college.

When we were in slumps, the WORST thing we could do is take a break or start changing your mechanics. The best thing you could do is continue seeing the ball and break the slump.

For the record, that's probably not a good example. A slump is an individual issue. Zach's issues are not due to him slumping.

My point is if white started and Zach watched, what good is that for Zach, White is terrible and with no experience…

Here's the thing - if the coaching staff is going to bench him, he needs to be redshirted the rest of the year. Because even if the protection improves by mid year, if he comes back and struggles the whole optics of the organization and player confidence is going to be in big trouble.

They need to do what they did with Darnold his rookie year and find a way to stick him on the injury report for something more minute so they can put him on the bench. But if they bench him just to save him from getting smacked in the mouth some more, it needs to be a permanent redshirt.

I agree with you regarding mechanics--but you do agree that at the major league level it happens that a guy sit for a game or two when in a slump even if healthy.

No, I don't agree with that. And again, that is in relation to an individual struggling. Zach is not struggling because of himself. Zach is struggling because the offensive line sucks, the play calling sucks, and the receivers suck.

How does sitting Zach help him? It's not going to solve the issues at hand and could potentially ruin Zach's morale if you sit him.

At this point I couldn't care less .... just numb and disgusted

But gun to my head ...Yes let him sit and LEARN something

Otherwise he will be out there on his back 14 more times. And maybe get injured

Prediction after viewing 3 games>>>> WE ARE WINNING ZILCH this Season

    Here comes 0-17

    SOJs can go F themselves

Because the pressure Wilson is having to face every week is doing him more harm than good. It's a net negative currently.

Zach Wilson has literally shown nothing, has actually gotten far worse,

We've played Fucking scrub teams, what going to happen when we play the Bills, I realize how desperate this fanbase is to find a QB, but jesus don't paint wilson at pure breed racing horse, when he's a jackass,

They are more willing to destroy the 2021 season and possibly other men's careers before they are willing to give out any appearance that they may have made a mistake.

these are the people that the Johnson's hire.
these are the people that never win
