to me when you have a rookie qb you should invest heavily in the oline. They should have signed another guard, injuries happen but having some depth and age would not be a bad thing. The one constant thing has been bad oline pay for the last few yrs. That falls on the coaches.
Who would the Jets hire at OC at this point in the season? Who would want to work for a rebuilding team that fired their OC 3 games into their first season?
Good potential player, but already has injury issues, you know if we draft him he'll be out by week 3
You would assume that multiple WRs ran the wrong route, but it just goes to show that they are so badly coached on the offensive side of the ball.
I'm telling you, Zach Wilson is a rookie and has some blame in this, but this play calling is fuckin horrendous. I think we would be witnessing an entirely different QB with a better OC. It's so fuckin frustrating watching him take the hits because his wide receivers aren't open or he sits in the pocket with a horrible offensive line
Maybe Saleh and LaFleur are in over their heads Ultimately though, Joe Douglas is to blame. you can’t have a team full of rookies and a staff full of rookies and expect to win anything
I truly don't think Saleh is in over his head. I think Lafleur is. You can tell the difference watching both sides of the ball. Saleh has a firm grasp of the defense and they play well. I think in time Saleh will learn to have a hand in both sides of the ball. He is a rookie head coach that has coached 3 games in his life. This offensive play calling is dog shit and only works with a HOF QB who can create something out of nothing. It is not helpful for a young team with a rookie QB
LaFleur is Saleh's buddy from 'frisco. He's also the lil bro of Matt LeFleur, OC GB Packers so he got this job thru connections. Is he a competent OC? So far the evidence says no. Passing coordinator? Probably. JD perhaps should have asked Saleh to bring in someone who has been an OC before instead of his buddy. Someone has to have had experience in order to mentor all these kids...
Pep Hamilton would've been perfect. Still not sure why he hasn't stuck around with a team as an offensive coordinator for a while.
Somebody most definitely must have ran the wrong route. I doubt very much you practice something that comical. Still as you said it speaks to the team’s preparedness or lack there of.
EXACTLY! the elder was an OC and called plays for one year with the titans and they had the 27th ranked scoring offense, 22nd offensive dvoa ... they actually had derrick fucking henry on the trading block because they couldnt figure out how to use him the packers are gonna be in for a rude awakening when rodgers leaves
Someone had a good post in either this thread or a different one about how shanahan runs motion 75% of the time and we’re at like 60, so he’s running his brothers offense (who has a hall of fame qb) and not shanahan who gets impressive point totals from a slightly above average qb.
We need to get in a offense of consultant stat. LaFleur needs help, he is having a welcome to the NFL moment .
Is Tom Moore still alive? Maybe he wants to come back. Is it that high? Man maybe I'm sleeping during games of pre-occupied watching the good football games on my second display. But I feel like I see very little motion and certainly no receiver jet sweeps and what not or wide vertical runs. It also might help if the Jets design some read options or run/pass options for Wilson. Not that he did a ton of it at BYU, but the threat of the quarterback actually running the ball can be there and loosen things up even if he never actually does it.
