Yes, it is a mixed bag. I still list the 12-31-00 Independence Bowl as the best college football game I ever saw. The game was played in a snowstorm in Shreveport. Mississippi State scored the final 14 points of regulation to send the game into overtime. Texas A&M scored on a Ja'Mar Toombs 25-yard TD run in overtime. Mississippi State blocked the XP and returned it for two points. On MSU's possession, QB Wayne Madkin rushed for a score and Mississippi State won 43-41.
Oh yeah. Michigan had their shot. To me, a rematch made less sense than giving Florida a shot. Too bad USC slipped up against UCLA. USC vs Ohio State would have been quite a matchup.
