Six games today, and no more of that minor bowl bullcrap. These are all solid matchups. Should be a good day for football. Outback Bowl: 11 am, ESPN Tennessee v. Penn State Cotton Bowl: 11:30 am, FOX Auburn v. Nebraska Gator Bowl: 1 pm, CBS West Virginia v. Georgia Tech Citrus Bowl: 1 pm, ABC Arkansas v. Wisconsin Rose Bowl: 5 pm, ABC USC v. Michigan Fiesta Bowl: 8 pm, FOX Boise State v. Oklahoma
Morelli looked pretty sharp leading PSU down the field, but the drive stalls out. Kicker shanks a 45-yarder. He's lucky that JoePa is coaching from the booth.
Both 11 am games are tied up in the third quarter. Arkansas has an early 7-3 lead over Wisconsin. Big game for the Badgers to prove if they're for real or a product of a cupcake schedule. WVU and Wake are even at 7 in the 1st Quarter. Reggie Ball is ineligible for this game, which may be a positive for Tech. He's terrible.
Actually, there are a few more minor ones. The International Bowl on 1/6 and the GMAC Bowl on 1/7 should really be doozies!
Hahahahaha. The CBS color guy was talking about Tech's QB Taylor Bennett, who's 4-for-4, 112 yards and a TD so far. His comment on Reggie Ball's academic ineligability was something along the lines of, "Maybe they [GT] would've liked those grades to be released earlier". Ouch.
Arkansas' offense could be unstoppable if they had anything that even slightly resembled a QB. --- Penn State just returned a fumble for a TD, right after letting up a huge pass play. Momentum is a-swingin'.
Nebraska just forced and recovered a fumble against auburn with 5:17 left in the game Auburn is up 17-14 and nebraska has the ball in auburn territory.
Oh, boy. I hope this lead holds up. Southern California up 16-3 on Michigan!!! Jets yesterday, WVU coming back today, and maybe USC winning tonight. This would be great!
Nothing wrong with Mid-Tier bowl games. A lot of the matchups earlier on are just as entertaining as these games.
And a lot of them aren't. You've got to pick and choose. Boise State-Louisville in the '04 Liberty Bowl was one of the best games I've ever seen. Stuff like the New Mexico and Papa John's Bowls...not so much.
PapaJohns.com Bowl was very bad, but the New Mexico was exciting as was the Armed Forces Bowl. The Sun, Chick-fil-a, MPC Computers all very good bowls.
