Normally I don't do this on another game--but this particular matchup is really good measuring stick for the Jets 1. Zach Wilson did really well vs. this Panthers defense.....this is going to be a top 7 defense this year 2. Trevor Lawrence threw 3 ints vs. Houston....that's a really bad look right now 3. Once Christian Mcaffrey got hurt tonight--Sam Darnold looks like his NY version after he left 4. Jet's defense handled the Panther's offense well 5. Davis Mills, a rookie, improved immediately against the Panthers after going no huddle...we should do same for Zach when appropriate
All good points but NFL is week to week. Bills lost to Steelers at home, trashed Dolphins 35-0 on the road. Dolphins won in Foxboro, got trashed at home. Steelers won on the road against Bills, lost against Vegas at home. Again, good points I say.
I mean the Panthers offense have one scoring drive so far. I wouldn't say this is some sort of juggernaut offense that our defense looked good against... Sam didn't move the ball in the second half against us because he panicked as he usually does and just immediately looked for CMC which Saleh adjusted to.
I understand why the Jets wanted to reset the clock at QB and they really believe in Wilson. But I will never understand the the fan reaction on this board against Sam. With good people around him he a good quarterback and can lead a team well.
I support zach but my original position was to trade down and keep sam. That said im happy we didn't follow my path. I believe with the right team, zach will be twice the qb sam ever could be
Darnold looks just like the QB we always knew he could be if surrounded by NFL personnel and coached by a real NFL coach. Good for him.
My takeaway from this game is that it’s impossible to understate just how bad Mac, Gase and his staff were. These guys have Sam playing like a pro bowler.
Great points guys! Gase and co were atrocious--even Bates before for that matter....it's crazy how we couldn't put this kid in position to even be serviceable. Still think ZW has the tools to be a way better QB, I hope Lafleur is the right guy to help nurture him. It's exciting that even a guy like Sam could be salvageable after the career he had before. Nice moment at the end of the game: Frankie Luvu, Darnold and Neville Hewitt we're all hanging out smiling and talking...Jet's circle of honor lol
He’s supposed to have weapons. And blocking doesn’t hurt either. Someone should have explained that to the Jets.
He doesn’t look like a pro bowler you all are going nuts. He looks solid. He looked solid at the end of his rookie year. But when he faces a well coach defense that turns up the heat on him he struggles because he takes a lot of time with the ball. Give him a lot of time, he plays solid. There are a lot of QBs like that. Nothing has changed.
He’s the same guy…Much better coaching, better weapons, and the Oline is better but still not good Probably a middle of the road guy you can win with, but won’t ever win because of him. Im fine moving on but would have been OK if we kept him too…Probably for the better that we did move on for both parties though The real travesty was not building on a solid rookie season
Except that Carolina’s Oline is pretty bad borderline downright awful. Sam made several nice plays despite being rushed several times today, even delivering a strike for a first down while getting drilled. He has weapons, but tonight he looked pretty good after CMac went down, which most have been claiming 5he number 1 reason for his success.
Did you watch the game? Still misses open guys down field constantly, missed Moore deep at the end of the game. He played pretty well. He’s far from elite or a Pro Bowler and I’ll still take Zach Wilson’s upside any day of the week
