With all the negative about the offensive line, this is a breath of fresh air:
    • Bryce Hall (LCB): 37 coverage snaps, 1/2 passing for 9 yards and 1 first down
    • Brandin Echols (RCB): 29 coverage snaps, 3/5 passing for 26 yards and 1 first down
    • Michael Carter II (SCB): 20 coverage snaps, 3/5 passing for 17 yards and 1 first down
    • Javelin Guidry: (RCB): 12 coverage snaps, 2/3 passing for 25 yards and 1 first down
And this is all with zero pressure on the QB by our front.

We'll see how the season continues but the young group looked great out there against some really good wide receivers

The pass rush actually graded very high. Huff,JFM, Q and Fatukasi all graded out very high on their pass rush pressuring the QB on 33 percent and forcing Darnold to hold the ball less per pass than any QB in week one which might explain somewhat why our young cbs did so well. But yes, great game by the young cbs.

I was very impressed with our secondary. really makes cutting bless make a lot more sense. echols, carter, and hall were never burned always right next to their man. Guidry I didn't see much of which is usually a good sign for a CB but he did have that great open field tackle on c-mac which anyone will tell you is not an easy thing to do. We have a lot of youth and speed at the CB position. it may wind up not being a need in the offseason. we do need safety and LBer help badly though. we had no depth and sherwood and joyner getting hurt didn't help at all.

I did a rewatch. the d-line was really good. I didn't notice huff as much as I was focusing mostly on Q to see why it seemed like he didn't do shit (he actually played well upon review) but foley was downright amazing, JFM was great and rankins was pretty good too.

    Thanks for the correction!

Crazy because it did not feel that way at all. Darnold really made it a point to get the ball out at an incredible clip

well when your RB gets 30 of the 45 touches on offense it's usually that way. I don't blame them, If I was an OC and had c-mac i'd be feeding him the ball like crazy too

The threat of the DL made Carolina rely on the short passing game and quick hitting routes, the defense did their job.

yep and it helps he has arguably the best receiving RB in the league and we don’t habe the LB’s to really cover a McCaffrey but not many teams do.

    This Shows
1- Our defense is coached up well and played well despite not having All Star names (Maybe Q, and Mosley?)

2- Darnold played well and made right decisions. This performance was not typical of what we came to expect of him.

Its game 1, I think this young Jets team improves every week. If we fix our Oline, sky is the limit for Wilson. He can not take same type of hits weekly!

These grades do not match what I was watching on Sunday.

At some point I’ll do Film Notes on the DL, but they had an ok day. McCaffrey on checkdowns, screens, and rushes were what they couldn’t handle

It did though after you watch the game again knowing this.

Darnold released the ball in under 2.5 seconds on 66.7% of his drop backs. That was the quickest time on the highest percentage in the entire NFL in week 1.

    That's called the McCaffrey effect

You can see from the beginning of the game how fast he was getting rid of the ball.

Yeah, I made the mistake many are making in just thinking we did not have the sacks/hits and therefore our pass rush was "nonexistent".

This is why film is so important. Our guys were getting there and pressuring him, he was just getting the ball out at an incredibly high clip.

Props to Darnold for that. Luxury when you have a guy like McCaffrey on your roster.

Agreed. Switch teams for #22 Sunday and we win by a touchdown. I was at the game in person and Sam made really 2-3 good throws all game. He missed so many plays. Remember they scored 3 points in the second half.

He is a work horse but the Panthers are still a losing team with Mcaffrey. Jets seriously need to clean up their act on the oline quickly .

Patriots are going to hurt Wilson if Lafleur and Saleh don’t come up with a good game plan for Sunday.

Big time and I think that is going to be the big test. If we come out with the same issues, I am going to be royally pissed.

I am hopeful given the second half adjustments last week.
