His contract extends another year so it’s not like he got free money. And that’s still far away from my point about being lucky avoiding virus spikes in the locker room during the season. It adds a totally different element to planning and prep

Crowder is a FA after this year.

doesn't extend a year he just didn't get an accrued year for the year off. more like replaced. but other players who opted out only got 250k of their salary borrowed off the following year, where mosley because the structure got 10 mil and then the year off less then a month after getting that check. he was by and far the highest paid player who sat out the year on covid which was my main point. With that said mosley wasn't gonna help us be watchable last year and it landed us wilson and he's cheap this year so i'm not complaining about it. he has his work cut out for him as the QB of the defense with so many young players around him

Any player that opted out last season had their contract frozen effectively adding a year to the contract. Mosley signed a 5 year contract before the 2019 season and would have been a free agent after the 2023 season, now he will be a FA after the 2024 season. Unless you were trying to say something else and I misread it.

that's exactly what I said. it's not extended. extended implies more money and more years added. instead he just didn't accrue a season. It doesn't add a year, there is a huge difference in it contract wise. It counts as an in-accrued season which is what I was explaining. The main difference with mosley though and other opt outs was the fact he got a 10 mil roster bonus right before the covid stuff hit so he still collected a ton of money that counted against out cap last year.

We got some potential issues here. After 8 days Crowder is still under COVID restrictions and they wont say if he has passed the first of two required negative tests. He may miss Sunday, and if he does return for the game, he wont have practiced since last Wednesday.

The good news is Cole is a great player and a worthy starter.

The bad news is Cole hurt his knee in practice yesterday and is listed as limited.

If both Crowder and Cole are out we'd likely go with Mims or Berrios starting.

They already listed moore and davis as the starters. cole was listed 3rd with mims and berrios 4th and 5th. if cole is out it doesn't change the starters. the difference is moore will slide inside in 3 WR sets with mims outside or berrios will slide in the slot as the 3rd WR

This gives Mims a chance to see some major PT on Sunday, especially if Cole is out too. I hope he seizes the opportunity!

Mims-Davis-Moore is the best trio for our future anyway, so obviously I want Crowder and Cole to be healthy, but I’d rather Mims and Moore win those spots anyway

My feelings exactly. Mims, Davis, Moore and Berrios if Cole can’t play.

What's wrong with Cole? I'm sorry if he's hurt or sick, but welcome the opportunity for Mims!

I believe it is a knee and he will be a game time decision.

I'd rather Mims turns into what everyone wants because it's cheaper for the Jets in the long run and it would show they can develop homegrown talent with this regime... but I'd prefer that he actually won the spot.

There's a reason Saleh announced during preseason that Davis, Cole and Crowder were the only unconditional starters before the first preseason game, and that is to stack the deck in Zach's favor by having 3 experienced receivers as a security blanket. He can't do that with our TEs like many teams because our TEs are a pile of refuse, and the Wesco experiment at fullback scares the shit out of me.

I'm sure they'll be doing what they are doing at corner as well. We'll see some of Mims outside in 3 receiver sets, but we'll see much more of Moore and Berrios throughout the game unless Mims gets hot fast.

I agree we need Davis/Moore/mims to succeed the most... But man this is classic we can't have nice things Jets. WR depth is great, and in a blink one goes down for covid and another injures a knee in practice.
