We just got a 4th for Herndon. Getting Ertz for a 5th seems highly unlikely or the Vikings would have made that deal.
My mistake. Not as great, but we now have two 4th round picks next draft along with all the others, and cap space. We should be in great shape next year.
I don't even think we're going to get him but it's idiotic to consider him as washed up and all because of a covid tainted 2020 season where he actually got hurt playing FOOTBALL no not ping pong but FOOTBALL. Zach Ertz of 2018 and 2019 (two career years) combined... 31 games. 204 receptions. 70.1% catch rate. 2,079 receiving yards. 14 TD receptions. Yeah. Right. If they consider that as "washed up" well then I've got three bridges to sell them in Queens, Brooklyn and Tampa Bay; washed up my ass. Most of these fans calling him "washed up" were too busy watching the Jets @ 1:00 and never even watched him play Football @ Philadelphia to begin with (myself included) but yet they're calling him washed up? It's a joke. I don't watch any Philadelphia games myself either but I know enough to know about the game of Football that an injury during a covid tainted season doesn't make a beast TE automatically and immediately "washed up" and especially not while coming off of back to back to back (3) Pro Bowl dominant seasons of 2017/2018/2019 it doesn't. George Kittle only had 2 TDs last year and on November 5, 2020, Kittle was placed on injured reserve with a broken bone in his foot. If I didn't know any better I'd label George Kittle as "washed up" too but fortunately I know he's not and I know he'll return from injury to become a beast TE again (as will Zach Ertz).
You arguing with the wrong person, I don't throw out comments unless I can back them. Ertz was a rookie in 2013, and the Eagle's had Brent Celek at TE making plays, Ertz had to wait his turn. Ertz didn't come into his own until after the 2017 season. The only "significant" injury in his career was last year's high ankle sprain. So please don't say, "he can't stay healthy", that's untrue. One half season doesn't equate to not staying healthy. Ertz is not washed up. You can argue he's almost 31 and is on the down side of his career, but there is no reason to assume he still can't still play at a high level for 2 to 3 more years. You can argue, the draft capital price is high or his salary will be out of reach and unreasonable, I agree with those assumptions. I just threw out Ertz's name as a possibility, since he has a relationship with our GM.
My bad. I looked at the number of games he played and assumed that he had been injured. I didn't say that he was washed up. The likely cost in a trade and his age are enough for me to not want to make a deal, but ultimately, I do trust JD, so if he trades for Ertz, I will support the deal and root for Ertz. I also wasn't trying to "argue" with you. I was just stating my reasons for not wanting to trade for Ertz. Thanks for setting me straight on the injury issue.
When we see how valuable a good/great TE can be for an offense, instead of saying "Get one in here NOW!!!" we need to be more like "Get a great one next year in the draft"
If you don’t think Ertz looked washed last year then you didn’t watch him. Not saying it can’t be an outlier season, but just as likely he’s down trending and isn’t good anymore.
And if you didn't think that Zach Ertz looked like an elite BEAST of a TE in 2018 and 2019 well then, you didn't watch him. Because one covid tainted season of injury doesn't make a player "washed up". 2021 he's coming back at full strength and in preseason game #1 he looked good as ever with 2 catches for 20 yards and during only 2 drives too. 2018 and 2019 = 31 games. 204 receptions. 70.1% catch rate. 2,079 receiving yards. 14 TD receptions. Yea. Right. So "washed up"
kittle is 3 years younger and coming off a season where he only played half the year and still put up over 600 yards and over 13 YPC. he was on pace for his best year of his career. he's also the best blocking TE on top of that. Ertz is in the decline and looked old and slow with no YAC ability put up less then 10 YPC and only barely over 300 yards in 11 games.
Ok and I cant take anyone serious who ignores 2018 and 2019 but uses one season of COVID-19 tainted 2020 as a reason to label a player as "washed up". Dont worry man you'll see in 2021 who was to be taken serious or not.
