We spent a 4th on Herndon and we got a 4th back (minus a 6th). Like you mention, its better for maneuverability because our luck in the 4th round has been largely terrible.
micheal carter looks promising though. Our luck with 2nd round WRs was garbage too but moore looks beastly. new GM, new luck
True but it helps that Moore was pick 34. The new GM took Morgan, Clark, and Perine in the 4th last season - not so thrilling. The Morgan pick was the reward for trading down and passing on a stud WR Claypool. (Not that Mims cant still pan out.) JD's best asset has shown to be his deal making in trades.
JD has proven to be somewhat of a wizard with trades. Often gets higher value than anyone thought possible.
I never liked the perine pick. Rumor is , it was a gase request as gase loved him. morgan is fine with me. Lots of smart GMs say to take a QB every year. You never know what you'll get and their value is high. always worth a shot. Clark is too soon to call and out for the year. anyone in the 4th is a project and is expected to take a few years.
I'm impressed. I was thinking a 5th would be really good considering where he stood on our depth chart with this new coaching staff. 4th rounder instead. That's a win.
I was thinking 5th too. I think straight up that would have gotten it done and if we didn’t have a ton of picks already that’s probably the deal. Smart move throwing in a pick to upgrade to a 4th. 7 picks in the first 4 rounds next year.
People told me this guy (below) was crazy for claiming Chris Herndon was worth a 4th round draft pick.. Looks like this man (above) knows his Jets players WORTH...
I have mixed feelings about this move, glad about 4th Jets received but I wanted to see Herndon play under a good offensive scheme that emphasized using the TE. It’s always about playmakers and I believe Herndon would have given Jets a mismatch on the field with Moore, Davis, Mims. Tough to cover that many weapons
I'll agree to disagree. Herndon was drafted 4th round. 4 years later? Gives us a 4th round pick in return (the same 4th round I was screaming for and demanding too). He's going to ball out alongside the likes of Kirk Cousins/Dalvin Cook/Justin Jefferson and Minnesota's Front Office knows it too. I hate trading away the player but nonetheless I'm excited to start over with a 4th round pick next year (now three-4th round picks of 2022).
Minnesota wouldn't trade away a 4th over a player who "sucks". And you'll see what I'm talking about once lining up alongside of Kirk Cousins/Dalvin Cook/Justin Jefferson instead of Joe Flacco/Frank Gore/B.Perriman. Chris Herndon has Pro Bowl and All-Pro talent and Minnesota will bring it out of him due to good talent and no ADAM GASE.
I'm certain that JD has probably put in claims on at least one, if not two TEs. Also don't forget that Fant can play TE.
Won't we have 8 picks within the first 4 rounds next year... • Two 1st round picks (Jets/Seattle). • Two 2nd round picks (Jets/Carolina). • One 3rd round pick (Jets). • Three 4th round picks (Jets/Carolina/Minnesota) ?
