As I said, as long as it's either a younger player with potential or an older vet who could give us 2-3 years, I'm fine with it as long as it doesn't cost too much, but I will be upset if he uses a 1st or 2nd round pick to bring in some JAG pass rusher.
There most certainly is. It's called not being foolish and overpaying for an older FA who isn't that good or way overpaying some younger player who may not fit our scheme or have the right character traits. If he had signed those types, there would have been Jets fans bitching that he was no better than Mac signing Mosely to that huge deal and Trumaine Johnson. As it is, some have said that JD overpaid Lawson and it was a bad signing or criticized JD saying he has been bad in FA. It's all BS! Some of you don't have the first clue of what a good GM is and how he is supposed to operate.
Johnson was egregious, Mosely was supposed to be all pro, let’s see what happens this year. Hopefully we recoup some of it with an all pro season. Lawson looks like a great signing, can’t predict some one getting hurt. He was literally a beast in camp. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shaq Lawson for a 6th! It has been reported. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...rusher-shaq-lawson-houston-texans-source-says Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Jets are Lawson's 4th team in the last 2 seasons. Somehow I feel like a 6th was overpaying, but whatever.
He was highly regarded coming out of Clemson, but NFL career has not panned out. Rex drafted him, that isn’t great endorsement. Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I don't mind the Jets picking him up but I think I'd rather they threw a couple of no-names out there and let them compete for the 4 sack a season job. That's what building teams usually do. I keep hearing people talking about rebuilding but when the house burned to the ground you are not rebuilding you're building from scratch and that's what the Jets situation is.
This is exactly the kind of move I thought JD would make. There is some talent there in Shaq Lawson, maybe he just needed some coaching to get to next step. Cost is low, no literally no risk. I think JD is not done, I think we use waiver on another. There are a few moves still to happen before said and done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I disagree (and deep down inside, so do you). Because in 2019 he was a big part of your Buffalo Bills Defense that ranked... ▪︎ 2nd in points allowed. ▪︎ 3rd in yards allowed. • Shaq Lawson of 2019 with your Buffalo Bills: 15 games. 6.5 sacks. 9 QB Knockdowns. 12 QB Hurries. 13 tackles for loss. 18 QB Hits. 28 QB pressures. (73.5 QB sacks/hurries/hits/pressures/knockdowns). _____________________________ • Shaq Lawson throughout the previous two seasons with Buffalo/Miami (combined): 29 Games. 10.5 Sacks. 17 Tackles for loss. 18 QB Hurries. 24 QB Knockdowns. 36 QB Hits. 53 QB pressures. (140.5 QB Sacks/Hurries/Knockdowns/Hits/Pressures (combined). You're mistaken because Shaq Lawson's pass rushing numbers are damn near identical to that of Carl Lawson's pass rushing statistics throughout the previous two years in regards to QB sacks/hurries/hits/pressures/Knockdowns (combined). And you really think that I'm going to believe a Buffalo Bills fan with a username of "BillsOverJets" on a NY Jets message board who's now trying to lie by telling our Jets fan base how Shaq Lawson is "NOT" a pass rusher? Shaq Lawson is going to FEAST for coach Saleh as a 4-3 DE of a pass rusher; especially once playing alongside of Quinnen Williams (DT).
For Houston to pay most of his salary and only require a 6th .He is a long shot. The texans did however trade an all-pro lb for him . The must be more to this
You have to remember that Houston is an absolute mess right now and is purging their roster. This is a perfect player that you would trade or cut if you were in that situation.
