Charlie Watts, longtime drummer for the Rolling Stones, dies at 80 https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/24/entertainment/charlie-watts-dead/index.html Hoping its fake news
The man was a fantastic drummer....one of the best. He wasn't super flashy but he was rock solid. RIP.
A very sad loss. Whenever I see one of my childhood music idols pass, it's a reminder of our own mortality and how quickly our little bit of time here passes. Legendary drummer for the "Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the World". Rest in Peace, Charlie.
This is the drum track from my favorite Stones song, and in my opinion one of the greatest rock and roll songs of all time. It is deceptively metronomic while still swinging fiercely, with imaginative little touches thrown in. I challenge anyone to listen to more than 10 seconds of this and not want to immediately find the full track and listen to it! RIP, Charlie.
I'm going home on a south bound train with a song in my mouth Silver train is a runnin' Think I'm gonna get on now, oh, yeah Silver train is a comin' Think I'm gonna get on now, oh, yeah
After way too many years I finally made it to a Stones Show two years ago on what now looks like was their last tour with the classic, if not original, band. Glad I mad it and Charlie was rock steady up there in the back at the age of 78. I doubt they'll book another tour when the one Charlie had to back out of is done.
Like someone else posted, you see so much of your own adolescence and young adulthood through the passing years celebrating the songs and music of the Stones...especially those HS and College Party times Thanks for the Fun Charlie.!...and if there is a Rock and Roll Heaven it must be a Hell of a Band
