Admittingly, I didn't know squat about Mahomes leading up to that draft, but I certainly knew and liked Watson. I even threw my sons shoe across the room when we didn't draft him...... However, now looking back at all the shit that's come out on Watson, it looks like with the series of events that have led up to now, overall as a franchise, the Jets are in a better place because we passed on Watson and took Adams. Of course I'm not going to give Mac any credit for that, but it's still wild to think about.
Never afraid to admit when I am wrong. The 2017 pass on Mahomes and Watson for the Adams pick (which I thought was stupid at the time ) probably did lead to the Colts absolutely swindling Mac in 2018, and therefore was the worst. And it's funny--I think the reason he passed on those great QBs in 2017 was because he picked QB Hackenbust in 2016 and was not ready to admit that error yet.
there are 2 kickers we can look at as well to bring in. the giants and ravens both have kickers who have been great in preseason who won't make the team
Anyone notice Ficken was picked up by Tennessee and has so impressed them that they've released their other kicker in camp? Ficken nailed a 58 yarder the other day. He's seemingly won the job. Well, good for him. I won't get worked up about the kicker until we're sniffing the playoffs, but it does seem to me this organization got lucky for a while with kickers and expected that run of "cheap effectiveness" to continue, which now it has not. Next good one MUST be kept.
most kickers in the NFL are pretty fickle. they have some great streaks and some not so great streaks. there have only been a handful of kickers who never had bad streaks and they are rare and special. viniteri, gotkowski, tucker are the only 3 that come to mind in the past 2 decades. ficken isn't a bad kicker, he's just a JAG kicker like many others out there.
