So is recognizing that Lawson is gone, at least for the season, a sign of the negativity or cynicism you mentioned earlier or is it simply the reality that some have recognized all along and others refuse to acknowledge? Shit happens, and to not recognize that, particularly with the New York Jets, is a big fail.
That’s great t-shirt material but absolute bullshit where the team we’re all here to discuss is concerned.
I agree with this wholeheartedly and this is our opportunity to prove it. There are quite a few guys that can step in and fill the void. Douglas put us in a great position with quality depth at that position. Let's see if we can change our fate
Wow...I miss one day and everything just falls apart, huh? Losing Lawson is a massive blow to this D. Drops them from a potential top 10 D to an average one at best IMO. However, as many posters have already alluded to, this season was always about Zach Wilson and his progression. I'm sick for Lawson though, thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. The only silver lining I see is that we'll hopefully get to see our young EDGE guys get some more run now. Huff, Hamilcar Rashed, Zuniga will all hopefully make the roster now and will get a chance to develop and be better players for next year when we, hopefully, are actually competing for the playoffs. Plus, we still have great depth with guys like JFM, Blair, & Curry. None of these guys are on Lawson's level but will still make this unit a solid one.
Also, on the Mekhi Becton saga. Let's see how he plays during the season. Jordan Jenkins was roasting Mekhi during TC last season too and Mekhi ended up having a really good season for a rookie LT.
He wasn’t totally wrong, we just fucked Darnold up beyond belief when it was obvious he needed coaching. I’m not buying any hype on anyone anymore based solely off the Darnold experiment but I do think Zach has more of an NFL game than Darnold did coming out of school.
Tony Homo also said Darnold was a lot like Peyton Manning and that he would become one of the best QB in the league. He also predicted him as a breakout player. "I just think he's got that thing the great ones have," Romo said on Tuesday at the NFL on CBS Media Day. "The ability to process information very quickly, and his spatial awareness. Some call it 'the it' factor, feel, whatever you want to see. He sees angles quicker than other people. His brain allows him to do certain things because of that. I told you guys last year, he's going to be a good one." About that....
Romo is like Gruden when he was an announcer. They talk up fullbacks who make a good block like they're Franco Harris.
If the interior can play at an elite level the edge should be good enough to get some pressure. With huff replacing Lawson I’m more worried about outside runs. He bites down hard on misdirection and doesn’t do well setting the edge.
Sup with the homophobic nickname? QB evals aside, I do think Romo is the best color commentator in the game right now, it’s not particularly close (there aren’t many good ones.)
