At this point, can anyone doubt that JWN sold his soul for that Super Bowl win, and nothing will change until the devil takes possession of the rest of him?
Lawson's injury is a really terrible blow - no doubt about it. But to me the most important aspect of the upcoming season is the development of Zach Wilson. This year we need a guy like AVT or Becton to play better more than Lawson, as good as his camp has been. This year I feel the biggest goal is to solidify Zach as FQB. The next year, with Carl back, few more good rookies, and Zach getting some experience, we might actually have a decent shot at the play-offs.
Oh for sure. I think the silver lining in all of this is the hope that he comes back healthy and plays next year when we spend a lot of draft capital on the defensive side of the ball. He could feast next year if he heals well. This season is about Wilson and the new system. Losing Lawson hurts like all hell, but Wilson is our future
After 50+ years of unbelievable misery, I think this is a plausible explanation. It honestly makes more sense than anything else.
I was so excited to watch Lawson, saw him at camp, he looked like a beast! So disappointed, with him I think he would have been best pass rusher since Abraham. Man, there is no replacing him. I thought we should have picked up Melvin Ingram before Pittsburgh got him, would have been good depth move, now none of the available pass rushers excite me one bit. Again we will watch opposing QBs carve us up with time for five course dinner in the pocket…. Urg! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sucks, but it is what it is. Part of the game and all that, unfortunately. Time for Zuniga to step up, show he belongs, and become part of the rotation.
Believe me I like Huff, but he is no Lawson, Lawson was on way to pro bowl! Just a bad injury! Reminds me of Testeverde. We were doomed, after that Parcells brought in terrible replacement in Mirer, was utterly a bad move. Wasn’t till season was lost, that Lucas was able to do something. Other injuries jets worthy, Pennington, broken wrist…. Sanchez shoulder. Not to rival geno getting clocked. Lol. I have been down all day after hearing Lawson was carted off. It just ruined my day. Zuniga might be cut, he’s been that bad. More hope in Huff than him! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Zuniga has been hurt more than he's been "bad". Huff has had a great camp but Saleh said just the other day that the plan is to go into each game with an 8 man DLine rotation, so I'm sure Zuniga gets every opportunity to crack the rotation.
I'm rooting for zuniga but you are correct, he needs to show up. This coaching staff seems very fair, if he deserves to be on the team he will be.
I think the more concerning news out of today is another poor performance for our pass pro--it has been regressing. Besides Bryce Hall and Braden Mann, there are legit questions about all the other players from our 2020 draft class. That's a bit concerning thus far, but I'm going to let the year play out before getting too concerned.
I’m officially going from “fighting for a playoff spot” to “learning year, look good regardless of record”
They'll have to use more than 1 player to replace his reps because he's a good run stopper also. Huff is turning into an animal rushing the passer but he's still trash against the run. Lawson's versatility gave the Jets a lot of freedom with that rotation. Saleh said they plan on dressing 8 DL on Sundays but this might dictate an extra body that comes from somewhere else.
Losmeister! It does sometimes feel like if the Jets do ever reach the top of the mountain there will be nothing left. Although it would be cool to finally have an av depicting Sisyphus standing up there holding the VLT giving the finger to the Gods.
