Yeah, I don't think anyone is letting it ruin their excitement. It is just truly unfortunate and makes the defensive unit not as strong as it could be. The defense will still be good. The team will still be fun to watch, but losing Lawson is a big blow.
Good lord. Forgive my blunt response but please give it a fucking rest. We Jet fans see challenges across the board, we might have just lost our top pass rusher for the season which is huge for a young team, we have a rookie QB sifting thru a firehose, the OL learning a new scheme, so we need all hands on deck and for all to succeed. Are you actually rooting for Becton to succeed or for him to fail so you can continue to stroke yourself in the back with the same shtick , “We should have drafted Wift the RT to play LT bullshit” Personally I don’t think many Jets give two fucks as to how well he is doing or not doing in arguably one of the top OL. If Becton fails we are fucked, so the fact that they are exposing him to all sort of new shit in the new passing schemes hopefully will improve his game during the season. That is what we all want to see. Comparisons to Wift be damned.
Mosey went from all pro for 3 quarters to injured to covid opt out to now . Not sure where he just kinda disappeared.
Spot on. He's like a broken record, and never mind that the BS he is spouting isn't true. It's a shame, because he is better than that. It's almost like he wants to see Becton and the Jets fail.
There’s always going to have to be an expensive piece added to the team.. the cap floor, free agency and limited draft picks makes it so. Would this injury seem better if it was a resigned player?Or a new draft pick?
I was really excited to see Lawson bring that elusive BURST of the edge, something Jets fan haven't seen since #94 was screaming off the line! I wonder if he will ever be the same with that injury, his upfield burst is likely gone for good. A left ACL in College, right ACL in 2018 and now likely the left achilleas... Dude got paid 30M guaranteed and was the 5th richest contract in Jets history. Best case he come around late next season with some quickness...looking like a bad contract because of an injury...Jets luck
He pulled his hammy in week 1 and disappeared. There was never an informative update on his condition and we were left wondering what was going on. EDIT - pulled his groin
It was a joke, lighten up. I'm not rooting for anyone to fail. Are we not allowed to say anything negative about Jets players here? Also hard to take your opinion on Wirfs seriously when you don't even know his name.
he has clown takes. I already dispelled his notion of Becton being bad last year with actual proof which he hasn’t even responded to. Now him being bad at camp is another thing but I’ll wait for games to come before announcing he’s done bust or something when he has tape/grades that shows otherwise.
I don't know if we should have drafted the other guy or not. I know Becton played well last year but for some reason he is struggling this year and he needs to get it fixed.
You had your stat about Becton's PFF grade and I had mine about him letting up a way higher number of sacks than Wirfs. The comparison to Wirfs was what we were talking about so the comparison was more relevant to the discussion. Now fuck off.
Thanks for the link! If anyone thinks Rodgers is great because of his physical abilities, pay attention to this interview. And I'm almost certain the Jets did NOT operate the way Rodgers describes the way the Packers do things in the segment from about 14:00 - 17:00 minutes, and it explains a lot about why they're so consistently good. I truly hope the Jets and Zach adopt this approach. It was interesting how he spoke about Zach near the end, around the 19:30 - 20:30 mark or so, and he was direct about pointing out that this wasn't as sharp as Zach has been, but that it was really good for him in his learning curve, but then he personalized it by saying "We need to see him seeing things the way I see them...", as if they were both on the same team." It definitely shows a connection between them, which I think will be good for Zach to have as a resource. Good interview.
The concern with Becton is has he been exposed as a guy who cant handle speed rushers. If so, he needs to get it fixed or move to the other side so Wilson can at least see them coming. ATM I'm not convinced Moses shouldn't be our LT.
I forgot they were in the team versus team scrimmage so my original post included questions about if this was after Lawson got hurt and without Rankins/Q. Williams but I forgot they were scrimmaging the Packers.
You also do realize that Wirfs had a higher PFF grade than Becton, right? Idiot. Kudos on cherry picking a single stat without context and thinking you made some great point, though. CC: @PJ4Ever
Players are forever linked to whom they were drafted ahead of. This isn't new. Since when did Jets fans get so upset about perceived "negativity?" If a player is playing like shit, he's playing like shit. There's no need to sugar coat it with things. I'm not sure what sort of career you have, but in the companies I've worked in, if someone brings up a realistic issue about something being logistically difficult or how processes should be changed, it's slammed as "just being negative," as a strategy to silence that person. This is happening a lot around here lately.
I take it to mean that in college you come to adapt to the speed relationship between how fast players move and how fast you can throw the ball, but that gets blown up in the pros, and it appears like the ball is moving slower because the players move faster. At least that's how I interpreted it.
