I don't think anything will ever top the loss of Vinny in 99. The Jets went from potential Super Bowl favorites, to average at best, in a blink of an eye. It was sickening. Losing Lawson definitely sucks, and hurts the team a lot, but not quite the impact of Vinny. Chad in 03, Chad in 05 were also terrible.
Agreed. But its still that feeling of hope evaporating. I guess I should be used to it by now. I was really looking forward to seeing Lawson this season.
Yeah, same here. It sucks the fans are robbed again from seeing the Jets defense at full strength. Lost Mosley the last couple seasons. Now Lawson. I was excited to see what a full unit could look like. We know the 49ers defense still played strong last year despite all of the injuries they suffered, so you know Saleh will always field a formidable unit, but I really wanted to see Lawson feast in it.
I can't recall a player getting a mri for an achilles where there was not a tear. I am trying to look on this positively and will say the positives are it opens a roster spot for another DL, if we are going to lose Lawson for a year I would rather it be this year than next and it will give more reps to young players like Huff and maybe Hamlicar or Zuniga. Pretty crappy positives but we have to make the best of this.
