I'm real close to going full blown Becton hater to be honest. Between the weight issues, the constant struggles in camp, the fact that I wanted Wirfs over him in the draft. I'm getting really salty.
I get being pessimistic but keep in mind he's got Dan Feeney inside right now. I want to see how he looks with AVT back before I go full panic mode on Becton.
I disagree. The OL is a unit, the play of each one affects the other. Would I like for Mekhi to be dominating right now? Of course, but I'm not ready to write him off because he's struggling against some really good EDGEs.
FWIW, Ferguson took about 3 years to become an above average LT. He had his share of growing pains early in his career.
Before I go around breaking things I have to remind myself that we are playing a 13-3 team led by the leagues MVP. Meanwhile we haven't done any work since Saturday except one padless skill practice, and had a travel day, while GB has been practicing all week. It makes a difference.
I find it hard to believe the Jets new he would need back surgery and the bears didn’t. More likely they didn’t want to risk a possible surgery or just loved AVT imo.
Also possible the Bears knew the risk and drafted him anyway thinking they liked the player enough to take the gamble.
This was a very difficult year to access medical issues due to Covid restrictions. I did read after the draft that a number of teams had flagged him for medical reasons. I do not know if the Jets were one. But, they did seem awful thorough.
