Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed the Spanish club is 1.35bn euros (£1.15bn) in debt, describing the situation as "very worrying".

The club's wage bill currently accounts for 103% of total income.

No wonder they wanted a ESL to bail them out

    Where was ffp for Barcelona?
Been spending above their means for ever and a day, I'd love it if they went bust.

Same - how the hell can you spend 103% of your income on wages? They, and Real Madrid, always think rules do not apply to them, FFP - thats for other clubs!

    Add PSG to that.

    K'OB and other Brits.

Do English clubs have some Financial Rules imposed by FA.

I don't see this FFP stuff creating issues for Premier League Clubs

It causes problems for Man City, we had to go to court to prove that we hadn't been cheating the system, while all the time the 'established' power clubs are taking the piss.

PSG get away with it as they are connected, they failed FFP and then the case was put on hold and then dropped as the time constraints for conviction ran out, how convenient for them.

What FFP does is stop a team getting a rich owner who doesn't mind opening his wallet to help his club catch up with the best teams in the league, the best teams in the league obviously do not want this to happen as it meant qualifying for the cash cow that is the champions league would become difficult and it proved to be so as Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd have all had spells of not qualifying, so they lost out on an easy 50/60m pounds.

FFP has nothing to do with stopping clubs going bankrupt, that was the excuse to help keep the powerful in their 'righful' place.

All of them are a massive bunch of cunts and nothing pleases me more than seeing City winning things as the hatred in this country for Man City is at an all time high, the newspapers are a joke, City spoiling the prem when we spend big, but when Utd spend big they have their cocks out and are giving themselves a good old rub.

Here are the top 20 record transfers in the prem, see a pattern Brook?

But back in the 90's/2000's they could buy who they wanted and frequently did, 30m on Rooney, 30m on Ferdinand and they were large fees at the time, ruining football some might suggest but not the British arse licking press.

Thanks Man. Didn't know Man City was hated in England but get used to it. Galatasaray is the most hated team in Turkey as well. Doesn't bother me one bit :)

What gets me is Barcelona, Real Madrid and one other, all refused to back away from the ESL and have had no sanctions applied to them. The other 9 teams who withdrew from the ESL were all fined!

    • This just goes to show that there are rules for most teams but none for the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. It stinks but we all know nothing is as corrupt as football and the organisations that run it!
    • Just look at the awarding of World Cups to see how corrupt football is.

You know it is nice to hear somebody else thinks the same thing, I was happy that Leicester City won the league and is still challenging, such a shame you just can't last out the full season to grab the Champs league spot.

I wasn't so happy to get stuffed 5-1 at home last season lol

We are very lucky to have the owners we have who care about the team and the community around them. They are investing an awful lot of money to extend the stadium and surrouding area

Exactly, the same with City's owners who have transformed an area of Manchester that was frankly a total shithole but try reading about that in the newspapers, it makes me sick tbh.

No, it wasn't, but that was Maine Road lol

Eastside of Manchester, building houses, education and work for lots of local people and nevermind the superb sports facilities.

Maine Road - I remember a work colleague going to a concert there and getting lost on the way home - he was too scared to slow down and ask for directions so he just keep driving around in circles!

I shouldn't say anything but City's new 3rd strip is the same but on close inspection the entire shirt is made of the badge.

It isn't very popular on the city forum, there was a huge row about the term Man City lol

I think it would look ok as a training top but not a proper shirt tbh

Surely, even your training top should have your club badge on - but then I'm an old traditionalist!
