He's behind Vyncent (sp?) Smith right now Not good for him Not gonna keep 7 WRs. I think he's gotta hope there's an injury. Maybe there is though (Elijah Moore)
I think Mims saved his roster spot (for now) with that catch and run for 20yds. He should see more reps next game. I think with the food poisoning issue, the CS probably wanted to see what Mims has in the tank and he showed them. Look for more Mims going forward.
This being true or false aside, the WR group is not good enough for a guy as talented as Mims to be saving his roster spot in garbage time of a preseason game.
Here is what you do with Mims. Throw the dam ball to him more. Denzel WashingMims will be Unstoppable, A man on fire. This is just his Training day.
Baby steps legs... He has to work his way back just like Herndon. Mims volunteered for ST's. Something Herndon hasn't done as of yet. I have every confidence Mims will work his way up the depth chart. Showed a lot with that run IMO. I think the CS sees it that way too..
So whose reps is he taking them from though? Corey Davis? No Cole? Not likely Crowder? Definitely not E Moore? Doubtful That’s the bulk of the first team res right there.
I didn't say he'd be upgraded to the 1st team starters, I'm saying he should be upgraded from economy class to the business seats. That's a lot of cash you listed there as well so there's the financial factor to consider. Mims may not start, but if he keeps playing at a high level, even in garbage time, he'll keep his roster spot. Besides, he might just become a good ST guy as he did volunteer for it. Given the choice of Mims or Herndon or Vyn Smith, I think Mims can do more damage in the passing game due to his size and sheer power. Obviously I'm a Mims fan..
Or to lift up the confidence of a player. A good GM would NEVER trash a player on the team and Douglas is a good GM.
Mims literally missed half of the entire season last year and then shows up to camp with apparently the world's worst case of food poisoning**. If Mims loses his job, that's life. The no.1 way to make a team is to be healthy and available. - **seriously though, I've never heard of anyone losing 20lbs from food poisoning. You puke and shit it out for one rough night and you are back the next day
I lost 18 pounds in a week from a stomach virus. Maybe "food poisoning" is just what he's calling it but it turned into something way worse. But since then I've put on at LEAST 75 pounds so I don't know what his issue was trying to get it all back.
he was at 217, which was 10 lbs over his rookie weight. It’s not as simple as he starts eating McDonald’s to get the weight back. He put in 10 lbs of good weight/muscle. Even right now he’s stated he’s at 207. And he’s going to make the team, Vyncent Smith and Berrios is the real battle.
I was kidding about being able to put it back on. He's doing it the smart way, I did it the "in my early 20s, making actual money, living in my own apartment" way. And yes he's making the team barring a disastrous August. Smith is just terrible. He's done nothing but make mistakes as a WR (minus a preseason game) and as a gunner he doesn't jump off the screen. The difference in talent between Mims and Smith is wide.
I agree with all except the part about Mims saving his roster spot. IMO that was never in any danger.
Over how long a period (how quickly) did you put on those 75 pounds? Were you a professional athlete working your ass off to catch up? Big difference!
Yeah, several posts later he said it was a joke. I respond as I go through unread posts. When there are pages and pages of posts sometimes to read, it's too much trouble to go back and find the posts to which I want to respond.
You're right it was a joke, it was only about 50 pounds. I guess going from early 20's to married with a kid and 36 will do that to you.
Self admitted Mims fan, I want him to be our next Al Toon (without the headaches). He was screaming down the field on the kickoff team and showed some real toughness and determination throughout the game. I think he will be okay and we will see him at the #5 spot. Maybe he continues to play ST this year. He has something Cole, Crowder, Moore don't...size and power After Davis, we don't have another bog body receiver Mims will be just fine and going into next year, will be our #2 on the outside
Perhaps... But I do think the CS was starting to give Mims the fisheye. Flashbacks of Herndon and Enunwa who were never the same after an injury.
They had more serious injuries, not pulled hammies, plus the CS was not here when Mims had the problems with the hammies.
