For what it's worth, NFL.com have Wilson 4th out of the same 5 on QB rating. Fields > Lance > Lawrence > Wilson > Jones I'm not sure its worth drawing too many conclusions from 7-14 pre-season throws. The best thing was that Wilson looked composed.
Literally Impossible to "grade" these performances fairly at all right now. Wilson didn't look lost. He looked like he belonged and that Is a fantastic first step. How they came to their conclusions on these grades are baffling to me though. It's non-sense, still.
Those PFF grades are never apples to apples anyway so I think it’s fair for them to give them out. How they get interpreted is a different story.
People have way too much time on their hands. I was comparing Zach to Darnold and I noticed he was way more decisive and his passes were more accurate with more zip on them. I remember one meh throw. Good debut. He didn't get hurt. Looked solid. Onto next week.
All I saw was Wilson looking composed, and in control, like he belonged there. Nothing more nothing less.
I've only seen the Jones and Lawrence games so far but from an eye evaluation Lawrence looked better. He was getting much worse protection but handled it well enough, including a great improve throw 30 yards downfield. Also they were going exclusively 4 and 5 wideouts with these long developing routes. The Jags opened up the playbook more than most teams while Jones was game managing on training wheels.
Shouldn't this be in the other thread that I felt should not exist? But yeah, comparing them is ridiculous, as @abyzmul said.
It will take many more reps, games to properly evaluate. I am even going to say years... As for Wilson, good arm, good accuracy, good composure. Good early signs for sure.
your just like everyone. they are good when they prove your point and bad when they don't. I know they aren't gospel, but they are a decent indicator of an "eye test" on a players performance we'll find out if he succeeds in carolina. Sam thing was said about tannehill and he's a pro bowler now
And you’re wrong. I’m the complete opposite regarding PFF grades as reflected by my previous post: Tannehill was even that bad in MIA; he was just always hurt. Sam sucked; there’s a difference.
hmmm sure bud. and zach has no zip on the ball either. more crazy statements from leglar82 which has sadly become the norm
I’ve NEVER said Zach has no zip. I just don’t believe he has elite arm talent. You’re trying too hard.
