What makes yuu think a stud FA wouldn't want to play in NY for a team on the rise with one of the leagues best young staffs with the cap room to get him?
I completely understand what everyone here is talking about. Yes it is true that top 5 picks are most likely busts and that detroit is still not good. We have a great team(players, front office, coaches) but at the end of the day the logic to playing a season of football is to win it and if we loose it is just like saying when draft day come "damn we have the 26th pick and we did not even win the chip"
I'm totally with you in that regard, but a winning season does more for a team on the rise then a top 5 pick. This team certainly has needs that I'm sure will be addressed in the upcoming draft, but no position is in such bad a shape that we need a top 5 pick to be a contender. Winning and losing are mentality's. The fact that this team rebounded from a horrible season speaks volumes about how close they are too a championship. Take the Raiders...there going into the offseason as losers. They'll start next season as losers. You need W's to gain a winning mentality. You need a winning mentality to gain a championship mentality. The Jets are in phase 2 and nobody knows whats going to happen in the posteason. Whatever it is, this coaching staff has the players believing. A team that believes is closer to a championship then a team with a stud top 5 rookie QB. Patience, grasshopper.
We have an early No. 2 pick in our pockets from the Redskins. We can make a move if we need to and we can sign a stud in FA that is a proven NFL commodity instead of a potential NFL commodity.
The way I see it, what's the point in winning a Superbowl anyway? You just have to start over the next season anyway.
If I was nostradamus and knew before the season started that we wasn't going the win the superbowl I would play the season very hard but my logic is if we get the first pick in the draft we can do many things with it trade down get a great prospect, etc... Doing that we are able to build a franchise that will win it every year
If its all about the draft, we should have won in 2000. Pennington, Ellis, Abe, and Becht. How many teams get 4 first round picks?
good point but thats not my point. If we had the first pick and we traded down and picked up that teams first round pick for the next 3 years and the next year, had the first pick again and did the same thing to another team we would be superbowl ready for the next couple of years to come
This isn't Madden. You can have a bunch of guys with 95+ ratings and still suck. There may be a job waiting for you in Washington though.
Jesus reading these idiotic threads I can hear the countdown................... 3-2-1 .................. (My Head explodes). This has been an amazing season and to come here and read," maybe we should lose every game and get the first pick". It makes me realize that all the surveys that say how far we are behind the rest of the world in education are true. Here is a great solution: Start Rooting for Detroit. Go post on one of their boards and see how fun that is.
