Solid tweet here. I'm not too worried about some of Zach's RZ struggles so far. As he works with the guys and gets some timing down, I see these periods swinging back towards to offense.
I said in the draft day thread, Elijah Moore is an insane talent. He's just as good, if not better, than the day 1 WRs. Not only has the talent to be special, but from all accounts, the desire, attitude and work ethic.
I really think he and Davis will be our top 2 WR's in terms of snaps when it's all said and done. I just don't see how the coaching staff keeps him off the field with how good he's looked so far.
It'll be nice to see if that's actually the case. We've tried this strategy with several Maccagnan offensive lineman and guys in the early 2010s. Some of them went on to at least be spot starters (Dozier, Aboushi, Ducasse). A Again, those guys aren't world beaters but they probably would've been better than the hot trash we threw out there over the past 4-5 years. We didn't develop them at all though. Shell's another guy that should've been retained. Nothing great but he's an NFL player. If Clarke is a decent rotational offensive lineman/swing guard or tackle, then it was a draft pick well spent.
sounds like mims may be WR5 to start the year with moore and davis starting and crowder in the slot and cole WR4
No disrespect but had to stop reading there. Joe Douglas has actually made O-Line and WRs a #1A and #1B priority by going after players like Becton/AVT/Clark/Moses and Mims/Davis/Elijah/Cole etc after years of neglect dating back to 2007 (O-Line) and 2002 (WR) especially in regards to drafting. He's already drafted as many O-Line/WRs throughout the first two rounds since dating back to like 13-14 years ago...
Awesome to see praise for our offensive linemen. I think this is going to KEY to turning this franchise around.
I wasn't referring to the volume of offensive lineman drafted, I was referring to the neglect of later round offensive lineman by the Jets franchise and honestly the ineptitude to develop any talent that's not a first round pick. It's good to understand where you were, to understand where you are going. My comment was actually to applaud the regime for not throwing Clarke on the garbage heap because he wasn't an instant first year All-Pro. I'm sure they were well aware he was a developmental candidate coming from Charlotte.
pretty sure i posted that awful play Vs Bills where Mims was open for a TD near the sideline and Sam just held the ball til the CB rolled up in him and THEN threw it to him... so while i didnt VOICE it b4, i agree w/ that 100%
There's a reason why fans don't run teams. Many here would've cut Q after a less than impressive rookie season. We'll see if the current staff can develop him.
